    Vic,

the buzz comes from the bottom. rather hard to tell as to expose the motor i have to take the cabinet off, which involves disconnecting the "lid open" switch. (How can one get power to motor with cabinet removed?) I get water, so i think it is something else.

Vic, there are three wires; gray, green-yellow (ground), and brown. Do I jump the gray and brown?

  • randarr May 17, 2009

Vic, I do get water. However, the buzzing sound is definitely coming from the water inlet valve. How do I determine if the motor is hung up? And if it is, how would I go about fixing that?

Can the problem be the water inlet valve if I'm still getting water?

HI Randy, It sounds like the motor might be hung up. THe moter has apump on one side of it and soometimes they get plugged and will not let the motor run. Does the buz come from the back or from bottom? If it is from the back, it might be water inlet valve. Do you gat water?
please let me know so I can assist you further.

THankx
Vic

You can use an insulated wire and jump the lid switch between the two gray wires.

yes, it could be going bad. Did the motor start at all when you jumped it? Are you getting both hot and cold water?

My washer buzzes when knob is pulled but it will spin just not fill or agitate

sounds to me like either the water faucet at the wall is shut off or their is some sort of restriction to the pipes not allowing the washer to fill
some on here may say that the buzzing will be the motor but since it spins i say bully to them the motor only knows to go to spin or agitate rotation based on on what the timer/control tells it to do if it will turn one direction it would turn the other direction as well. So definently check the water supply to the washer
Oh the buzzing is the solonoid on the valve opening the valve yet since no water coming in you hear the buzzing while you wouldnt hear it since it would be drowned out by the sound of the water coming in

MY WASHER WILL NOT SPIN. iT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING

Sounds like a broken motor coupler for sure, the motor shaft will still spin the drain pump, but drive between the motor and transmission is lost. Part# 285753A. Have fun. If you need breakdown info let me know.

My kenmore dryer makes a buzzing noise when I push the on button and will not turn on.

When you press the push to start switch and you hear a buzzing/humming sound, it is the motor that has gone bad and CANNOT come on. PLEASE check the motor to see that IN FACT it is bad and that there is NOT SOMETHING foreign somwhere in the blower wheel or elsewhere stopping the system from freely turning

Series 70 fills wit water stops then makes a slight buzzing sound

The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem? The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.

Does not drain

The light buzzing of the motor doesn't mean the pump is in good condition and actually is being driven by the motor, in fact a seized synchronous motor can make a convincing buzzing sound and not burn out for a long time. The pump intake could be blocked...

If the symptoms indicate there could be something wrong with the pump then visual confirmation is required and not merely the assumption.
