Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Wireless not working with the router

Hi,

  1. I get internet connection directly into my apartment (no modem with me)
  2. I connected the cable from this internet connection to my router internet slot.
  3. Then I turned ON the router.
  4. A green check mark appears and then after some time it goes off. Power and internet sign are ON.
  5. Now I connect my laptop to the router at any of the LAN slots in router.
  6. Now when I try to access http://192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net none of the page opens up.
  7. If I now restart the router from the button below antenna then I can access the initial page but after second or third page it again says page cannot be dispalyed or no internet connection found.
  8. I also tried to reboot my laptop but no luck.
Please advice me to configure router for wireless...

Thanks in advance,
Chintan

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: set up router/modem as instructed

Problem can't be solved as described, a fixer would need more details.

What kind of modem/router is it?
What instructions are you working from so far (you say, "as instructed" so I take it you're looking at a Quick Start Guide of some sort?)
How are you connected to it?
What http address are you going to (E.g. some routers use 192.168.1.1, others 192.168.1.254 or various alternatives)
What happens when you enter that address on a browser?
Have you set your computer's address to a nearby address so it can talk to the route?

If I had one guess with not enough information, I'd say you need to set your PC to an address one different from the target you're going to.

I want to start internet in 4 computers what can i do for. i have a bsnl broadband connention. PLz help me

Hi Friend, In this case I would recommend you to please check if the BSNL modem is the wireless modem or the Wired modem. If it is a wireless modem then you can connect your system wirelessly to internet , provided that the laptop has the wireless card in it.
If it is a wired modem then you can connect your system with the LAN cable to that modem in each slots to get connected to the Internet.

Cable modem is connected to the router but the router is not working wireless or when connected via Ethernet cable

You need to check first if the internet is working if you connect your computer directly to the modem. If there is internet on your modem, you need to reset and reconfigure the router. If there is no internet on the modem, you need to contact your internet provider.

Cannot connect to my wireless router

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, it works .
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

DLink wireless router will not connect to internet we have a new modem, tried connecting through a cable, and wireless, tried new cables, rebooting, resetting and all standard procedures. Is there...

It's the modem, not the wireless router that is the problem.
The modem must have the proper account name & password for it to work.

Test:
Connect a computer directly into the modem (without router). The modem has an Ethernet connector. If you can't get Internet by connecting a computer directly to the modem, then you will never get the router to work.
Contact your ISP. They may not give you the account name / password, but instead do a service call to your location.

Comunication between modem and wireless is not working

First you need to make sure that your modem alone is working right. you can check this by connecting your computer directly to the modem and testing for the internet connectivity.

Then power off everything. connect the ether net cable from the modem to the router. connect both the power cables (modem and router). power the modem first, wait for a minute and then power the router. this should work

Conecting netgar wpn824v2 to cable internet

what exactly do you plug directly in the wall? what kind of connector does it use? an 'f' connector on a coax cable or RJ45 (like a phone plug? if you are using a cable connection you have to have a modem for that to work. if you are using a Ethernet cable tied directly to a jack on the wall you'll have to be sure routers are allowed to connect. or register the router with your provider. be sure your wireless router is getting an address form the internet provider. with out more details i can't give you any more specifics.

-good luck-

Use of router in network

Try reset the router & cable modem. There ia a reset (very small) button on the back of the wireless router & the modem. Disconnect the power cords to both. Use a pen & hold in for 10 seconds (router & modem). Re-connect power (router & modem) & restart PC. If your service still has not returned. Chances are it's your internet provider & not you. Double check by connecting your modem directly to your PC.

Luck!

Wireless internet connection

I may be able to help with this...but I need a detailed description of how you have things connected between the XP desktop, the cable, modem, the Linksys router, and the laptop. Also, is the Linksys router new?

Typically, the wan port on the wireless router connects directly to the cable modem with a cat5 network cable....then the desktop pc connects to the router...on port 1 for example...with a similar cable. Once the wireless router is set up properly, the laptop should then be able to connect using wireless.
