Question about Creative Labs Zen Touch MP3 Player
I have a used Creative Zen Touch 40GB that did work; somewhat. Didn't like the songs on it and deleted all by using the computer. The touch pad didn't seem to work very good; it was really hard to get it to scroll. I have another 40GB that needs a hard drive, but the touch pad works fine. So, what I did was, I took the hard drive from the one and put it in the other one with the good touch pad. Then I went and did a upgrade with the firmware version 18.104.22.168 which I'm not sure if that would be the one that will work. I didn't want the 2.11.10 PlayForSure version. It got about 3/4 of the way threw and stopped and then showed Firmware Problem on the player. I went and unpluged the player and tried to shut it down, but it didn't want to turn off. I hooked it back up to the computer and it was not recogized by the computer. I uninstalled all Creative Zen Touch software from computer and I use WMP 10 only. Then ended up just taking the back off and unplugging the battery. If no one has the fix for this; would anybody have the EXACT steps for loading firmware on a new hard drive, once the hard drive was put in the player?
I'm trying to reload my players firmware from creative website, but promt says my player is not connected. Any ideas?

This guy doesn't know shit; I don't have WMP 11 for one thing and puts a link to get a download that isn't even for this type of player. Get off the drugs dude. Next time read the problem; clearly think of what you're reading, then try to answer it; or don't bother at all.

· 1. remove all creative software from your pc (do this from start menu/settings/control panel/add or remove programs)
2. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Player 11 runtime. This will rollback the pc to an earlier version of WMP.
3. Download the latest version of the zen driver from this location: http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP
4. Make sure the zen is not connected to the pc and install run the exe file to install the software on your pc. at some point, the install will tell you that the unit is not connected. Connect the unit to proceed. it will also notify you that you are replacing an existing software, or something to that effect. I accepted or said OK to this popup. Once the firmware is installed, my started to work fine. You can now reinstall WMP from microsoft website. Hope this works for you.
you might want to verify that your new player has the latest firmware available, as this might address the unresponsive-button issue you're having. Firmware updates are surprisingly easy - you just download the firmware file from Creative's website, plug in your player, and double-click the downloaded file. It's that easy.
All else failes download the recovery tool from creatives website.

Go to the control panel select add hardware connect your ZEN Touch, scan your device will tell you to install software, asking you if you want to download from the net or from cd-rom I would select net, few steps and then re-install the firmware should work, it work for me, if it works a bubble should pop up in the lower right of your pc, talks about MPT, updated.

SOURCE: zen cannot be turn on!!!
Mive did this. I left it in the computer for around 10 hours (the computer didnt seem to regonize it, but it still atttempted to charge) Then try and turn it on. It should work?
