MVD4544 Memorex Combo with PSCAN and split viewing screen

I have been trying to set up a Combo for my Grandmother and the VCR side played and set up no problem. Tried the DVD side and the screen is off in the background with this big PSCAN ! in the middle of the screen the menu for the DVD will come up and the Set up screen will come up but the big PSCAN! will not move. Tried calling and using the web site but no luck getting anyone.

SOURCE: Having problems connecting dvd vcr combo to tv

Hey Pat. Red Yellow White Plugs into back of MVD4544. Red Yellow and white plugs into back of TV. If you have an older TV that has only coax cable outlet, go to Radio Shack or Best Buy and get an RF Modulator. You may need to get another set of Red Yellow White Plugs if you have a cable box. The front connections are Video 2, if placed on the back they are Video 1. When you first turn the DVD/VCR player on, be sure to select the appropriate setting. If you figure out how to timer record on this please let me know. No where in the 52 page book is there any info and their website is a joke. Good Luck.

My memorex combo dvd & vhs player is not working right. can you help me? the vhs player works fine, but the dvd player display's a split screen on the tv with a large yellow box with the word PSCAN....

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

How can I get ride of the pscan split screen view on my memerex vcr-dvd player without the remote control and no manual

Hi,
I'm not sure what is model number of your VCR-DVD combo so providing you general info to turn off pscan.
Put disc in player, press play to have distorted picture then press stop button to stop playback.
Now press and hold Stop button on unit for 6 seconds that will turn off pscan mode.
Or let me know exact model number of your player to find out solution.
Thanks.

Split screen with pscan warning on

I had the exact same problem and I consulted the manual. All you have to do is turn the PSCAN swtich off. It is located on the back of the dvd player. Then turn the dvd player back on and your problem should be fixed.
