SOURCE: Need to replace screen an an HP dv2-1118

There are tutorials at Youtube, com on how to do this go there and type in your make and model and how to replace a screen on your model. It is simple for those who have done it. On the screen itself will be rubber plugs those are the covers for the screws. Make sure to mark all wires and replace them exactly the same as them came off draw a diagram.
Remove the back of the laptops and locate the two wires they are grey and black usually these are attached to the Network Card clips be sure to replace them back the same way when done. You will also have to remove the plate the long one in the front where the power button sits and the speakers are located. There are approx 3 or four screws under the battery remove the battery and any screws that hold down the hinges. Remove the plug for the monitor from the lower case as well. You can now remove the whole screen.
Important: Do not touch where it says do not touch along the top of the screen is a sealed ban plastic do not push on this or handle it any other way but the edges. Replace everything the same way it came off and be sure no wires are pinched etc. Power up and off you go.
I suggest the video tutorial Click Here please. John

1. Test using an external monitor. If it works, then either the screen bulb or the inverter board might be defective.
2. Test the inverter. Easiest way to do it if you have a good screen with a good bulb. Connect the good screen to the inverter board & test it. If it lights up, then the inverter board is good. If it did not, then the inverter board is bad & needs to be replaced.
3. If the inverter board is good, then we are left with the possibility that the screen bulb is bad. To fix this, we will need to replace the LCD screen.

HP Pavillion laptops and every others laptops do require CD/DVD recordable for backup not CD/DVD rewritable. Try to use a CD/DVD recordable to see what will happen first.
