Question about Canon PowerShot A80 Digital Camera
I recently purchased a laptop computer loaded with Vista. I have downloaded my Canon Powershot A80 software however I get the message "camera not found" when I try to download photos. I am using the same connection previously used on another compter with Windows XP. The usb cord is attached to the compter on one end and the camera on the other. The camera is on, and in the correct mode and I still get the message "camera not found." Any suggestions??
Vista requires updated drivers for most of the older cameras. Unfortunately, Canon chose not to update the drivers for many of these cameras, including the A80. BUT please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue. Just make sure that you get one that's stated capable of reading a CF card:
