Cruzer 2GB I purchased this thing to put all my pictures on. It saved a handful, but then stops with an error. "Cannot copy (file): The directory or file cannot be created" What happened? What can I do?

I had the same problem. It seems to have a limit of 170 files if I try and copy individual files. Yet if they are in a folder and I copy the folder it copies fine.

I have the exact same problem with a Sandisk 2gb SD card, not a Cruzer. Copied 170 files, 1.2GB, and then stopped with a copy error.

This is due to the fact that these drives are formatted for FAT (not FAT32 - which makes no sense whatsoever). What you need to do to fix this is reformat the drive for FAT32.

I found that if you group files into separate folders and then moved the folders, everything will copy and fit without a problem.

I would make sure you have a copy of everything transferred to it, then wipe it / or format it for MS-DOS. and attempt to copy to it again. If no go, it maybe faulty.

Easiest thing to do if you do not know how to log in as administrator is purchase a new usb device and start a fresh. If you get issues, formatting the new drive will not lose any information that is already there.

I need to put my photo,s onto a memory stick, dont know how to,i have a cruzer slice 2gb,thank you

I assume that you want to save photos to your memory stick from your computer. Follow this simple steps;
1. Connect the memory stick to one of the usb ports on your computer. (wait for few seconds)
2. Open the "My Computer" and check for a new drive detected. If you had assigned a name to your memory stick, you'll see it with the name or just check out the new drives detected (cruzer has a built-in application which you'll see it as another drive on your computer, you'll not be able to open it, it's only an image/read-only).
3. You can save the images/photos in two simple ways, (a). Open the folder where you saved your photos, right-click on the photo "send to" and then move your mouse towards the memory stick name and select it, refer to the picture below; d26b7ec.jpg

You can do the same with a folders or another files. Or you can select the photos you would like to copy to your memory stick which are saved in a folder on your computer, copy them and open the pendrive/memory stick directory, paste them into it.
4. After you are done, click on the usb icon on the taskbar and again click "safely remove usb mass storage" or similar messages. You'll be presented with another message that you could be able to remove the usb device.
I hope you can follow this instructions, i've tried to simplify, so that you can understand. Well, if you have problem following these, please let me know.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

If you open up "Explorer" and expand the directory that contains your pictures, and "Select All", "Drag and Drop" them onto your flashdrive. Ian.

Cruzer micro 2GB - "Directory or file cannot be created"

In all likelihood, your SD card is formatted FAT and you are hitting the limit on number of objects in the root directory. Check the format type and if it is FAT, I would recommend reformatting as FAT 32 which has more lenient restrictions.

ALTERNATIVE: If you really do not want to reformat the card, you might try to remove a few pics to free up space in teh directory and then create a subfolder to store picture in. Object in this subfolder should not be counted at the root.

10 to 20 percent music files-(message)"unable to copy file or directory"

go to your folder with the files you want to share, open the folder select all of the music files copy them. Open up your brothers flash drive then paste them onto it.

If you have made a shortcut to these files on your desktop then copying them it maybe trying to copy the shortcuts and it won't work.

Another thing to check is that the music files are in the right format for the flash drive.
