Cable VHF/UHF Receptor Needs Replaced

On the back panel of the TV is the plugin receptors for Ant-A and Ant-B VHF/UHF . Apparently they have gone bad. It is where I plug in the cable.I would like to be able to replace if I could get some direction. I don't know what the part is called or how to replace. My reason for believing it bad is because when I switch to a DVD player, it works fine and I get a good picture. So it's not the tube. When I try cable, I just get ''snow''. I can provide a picture if helpful, but I don't see that option here.
The TV is an oldie: Mitsubshi CH-3526R. But it has been flwless for 15+ years

SOURCE: no receipt of signal or antenae

Since it has voice or sound then I don't suspect the tuner but probably the tuner does not have the 33 volts that goes through r106 location number on the board. It is a 27K resistor and can be bought for about a dollar at Radio Shack. (pack of 2or3) A repairman or someone experienced in electronic soldering and desoldering can change it easily. Could cost around $50 to repair depending on the serviceman. If it has rca jacks (red, white and yellow) The tuner can be bypassed if you have a cable box that passed these signals: audio left and right and video. Hope this helps

I cannot set up my tv, after it had cable. when i try the setup program the tv will not accept any channels and sap appears on the screen. i want go back to uhf/vhf, can somebody help me.

If you are in the US, there is no logical reason to go back to UHF/VHF as there are no broadcasting stations using the analog frequencies anymore. Those old tuners will not decode anything that is coming over the airwaves. Thus their channel scans will not detect ant channels, making you think there is something wrong. You would need one of the digital converter boxes sold during the transition period and then you will only get your local channels, much as you would have before.

You must connect an Antenna to use the AutoTune. A set of rabit-ears is sufficient for most areas: RE: the Digital (Free) TV singals are using the old UHF/VHF frequencies - so any antenna designed for Broadcast TV should work. Connect your antenna to the ANT/Cable connection then re-run the Auto-Tune again.

Air-ant. get lower sig. but not higher than 25, 31, 47, etc.

If your antenna is a VHF , the rest of those channels wont come in.
You need a UHF antenna or a combo UHF / VHF

Slot where cable fits in - Broke

I am assuming that what you are referring to as "metal block" is the tuner assy. and that the "slot/cable receptor" is the chassis mounted 75ohm TV "F" Coax Connector (female). This is easily replaced and the component should be readily available from most electronics part stores.

To perform a DIY and replace this, the TV has to be opened, the metal cover of the tuner pried open, and the F connector replaced and eventually soldered in place.

Incidentally, a nice tutorial on how to go about this is posted here.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

      Good luck and kind regards.

      Thank you for using FixYa.
