Question about Intertherm P3RA-048K Air Conditioner
Why is the unit not blowing cold air
So as not to be repetitive (as others have had the same problem), here's a simple article that percisely explains the possible causes of your AC's not cooling:
Also, if need be for a Freon/refrigerant recharge (since only licensed techs can recharge), take advantage of the link towards the end for four free quotes from technicians if you find yourself need to get one. (You don't want to needlessly be charged for just someone's coming over only--it could cost a lot for no substantive action.)

When the unit is running, go outside and put your hand near the condenser fins, this air that comes out should be slightly warmer than the ambient temp. If it is not you will need to take the unit out of the window and out of its outer case and clean the condenser fins from the inside, this is no easy task as it is very hard to reach. You will want to get a small (toothbrushed sized) brass bristled brush with a long handle. Make sure the evaporator coil (in the front) recieves the same attention and wash the mesh filter that goes in front of the evaporator. Re- assemble and enjoy the cold air.

This unit is use in motels etc. Check the ouside coil ( conderser) from the inside (discharge fan ) for dirt. Most of these units are floor level . This can cause a unit to short cycle ( cold air is at the floor) .

First check to see if your outside unit is working and you can here the compressor running. If the fan runs and the compressor does not you have a problem with the capacitor or wires burnt off terminals. If your not sure you know how to work on this please call a service tech ask for free estimate. If the unit compressor and fan runs you may be out of gas that meanns you have a leak. Either way you need a service tech. You can only go so far without the correct tools to work with. Russ

The compressor is not starting either because:
1. The compressor has gone bad
2. The system is low or out of refridgerant. There may be a slow leak, when there is no refridgerant in the system the compressor will not start.
Re-charge the system with appropriate refridgerant, if the system has a charge already or holds a charge when you charge it then the compressor should start.
If not the compressor could be bad, sometimes you can get a hard start kit instead of replacing compressor. If the system does not hold a charge then you have to find and repair the leak before anything else...
Good luck. Please give good rating, it meens a lot to me....Feel free to contact me again...
