Broken key. I had thrown something down, not aiming for my computer, but instead I had hit my laptop keyboard, and the four key popped off. I do not know how to place it back on so it can work, how do I repair this problem?

Hi notesticky i once had a problem simlar to this one i was replacing a keyboard to laptop when a key pop-out what i did was to snap back key in place, on the keyboard layout has rigids that snap each key in place but if it's broken you might have to replace keyboard section. you can find a replace keyboard at ebay.com and don't forget put model # maker of laptop. good luck.

it has spring under the key need to put it back it.

  • adcts43 May 25, 2009

you have to put the key cap on over the spring and snap down firmly to put it back in place, if you lose the spring you'll have to replace it.

THE LETTER BEFORE T

Usually a small piece of debris can become lodged between the key and input. Simple to more complex. Try can compressed air with plastic straw aimed between the keys trying to dislodge it. Would need more details (model and brand) history (key pop off, something dropped on keyboard..does t work on externally connected keyboard?) before offering a more involved and complex solution.

My number 1 key on the numberpad is stuck

Step 1:
What sort Of stuck ?

A stuck key on a keyboard is one of those annoying things. The typical desktop keyboard has about 104 keys, a laptop keyboard has a few less. The problem of a stuck key can be a hardware or a software problem or the key itself might be the culprit.

Hit the key several times. This will almost always unstuck a key. Clean the keyboard with an approved keyboard cleaner. These often come as wipes. People sometimes spill food and drink that can make keys sticky. Pop the keys out using a small knife or flathead screwdriver. Most keys pop right out and can be pushed right back in place. Look for something that might be blocking the key and remove anything you find.

My laptop key popped out.

Hi,

I think it would be better if you decide if you want to change your keyboard or not. If you decide that you want to change the keyboard and have it replace by yourself you can go to this site, check if the part is available or not and order it if ever.

Hope it helps.

The letter 'r' and 't' has come off our laptop how do I put them back on?

Hello,

The keys on the modern day laptop as placed on hinges, and that's how they keep coming up when we press them down.

The problem is, if the keys come out of the keyboard, then we need to check whether that hinge is broken or not. If it's broken, then you need to contact your local Computer Engineer who can fix this for you, as helping you in this medium won't resolve the issue.

If it's not broken, then I would suggest you to carefully see how the mechanism of the keyboard is on your laptop, and place the hinge back on the keyboard.

One more small tip, if neither of them works, then use some permanent glue and try to stick the keys on the keyboard. Though I would recommend this only as a last resort.

Let me know how it goes.

Error 0210: stuck key 01

I assume its a laptop. laptops some times get stuck keys, meaning one of the keys has not fully released after it was depressed. I recommend getting some compressed air in a can and give it a good cleaning. there might be something stopping git from popping back up. then give the keys a little work out. just mash the keys a bit. then turn it back on. if you still have an error, then you might want to consider replacing the keyboard. if you don't, it will not harm you pc in anyway...good luck

Some keys of my keyboard doesnt work..(5,6,r,t,f,g,v)..

If they type something else instead then you need to hit the scroll lock key to release the keys. If nothing comes from typing the keys then you need a new keyboard. Best source is EBay if it is a laptop.

Nothing happens when I hit the ''enter'' key on my keyboard - can you help? I use a laptop with an external keyboard - the enter key on the actual laptop works as it should - but for some reason the enter...

If it is still dormant after you power everything down, you probably have not mistakenly hit something. There may be something physically wrong with the key. Try the keyboard on another computer. If the enter key works reliably there, you have quite a puzzle. But if it fails there as well, see whether the enter key moves as smoothly as the other keys. If it is a larger key, it may have an "equlaizer bar" to make it move smoothly that may have become detached. In that case, look at similar keys to figure out how to reassemble it properly. Also look for dirt of any kind under it or between it and nearby keys.

Broken bey on computer keyboard

If the key base or the key support has actually broken you will have replace the keyboard, they are inexpensive on ebay...around 15-25 bucks. If the key just popped off, try to rock it back on its mount either from side to side or top to bottom, you will be able to hear and/or feel it pop back in its mount.

HP Laptop keyboard fails... sporadically

I suspect your problem may be caused by the wireless keyboard, even if you are not using it. You may be using your computer in a "noisy" environment where the wireless transceiver is picking up random signals and corrupting the keyboard interface. Or the wireless keyboard driver could also be at fault.

Can you de-install the wireless keyboard from your system and see if the problem occurs again?

NOTE: I had weird problems with my Microsoft wireless mouse until MS came out with an updated driver for it.
