Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
When I turn on my ps3 it freezes for a while then shows the time and date in the corner and the wave going across the screen but does not give me the acount choices down the middle.
Your hard drive is not being accessed by the other parts of the game, for what ever reason. I've seen this problem a lot! There's a laundry list of reasons why this happens. I can't really determine the specifics of YOUR unit unless I looked at it, which is virtually impossible. The best solution I can offer you is this: While the console is in "stand by" mode, hold down both the power & eject buttons simultaneously. You'll hear a single beep, then a double beep. Once you hear the double beep, release the buttons. This will bring up a six item menu. You'll need to pick option #3, first. Hopefully this will help you with your problem. If it doesn't, you'll need to choose option #6. The draw back of this option is that it will delete all of your saved memory; erasing EVERYTHING! But it may be the only way to keep from having to send your console to the repair shop. You can re-load your downloaded games, demos & trophies from the PlayStation store free of charge. If all else fails, you can contact PSR repairs at www.psr1.com .

Wow this is quite an odd problem you have here, seems that your boot sector is not running properly, could it be that you have added a new hard disk or temoved/replaced the hard disk?i offer a few simple fixes to this, if they dont work then try phoning the ps3 cust servicesfirstly, when the ps3 is in standby (red light) press and hold the "on" button for a few seconds, you should here two beeps, this resets some of the ps3's options and hopefully it might worksecondly you could try and reove your hard disk, turning your ps3 on(it should show a message something like " no hard disk inserted" , connect the hard disk back into the ps3 while it is on.the second method deletes all data on you hard disk ( game saves, movies, music, downloded content) and re-installs the ps3 operating system.if the second method doesnt work, remove the hard disk again, format it (google it if you are not too sure "format ps3 hard disk via pc")reconnect the hard diskthe ps3 will then format the hard disk, ask you to insert ps3 operating software (downloadable via the ps3 website), you should insert it via a usb flash drive. this will fully remove everything from the hard disk and start afresh
