Display driver (ati2dvag.dll) stuck in an infinite loop

I have a Toshiba Model A65-S1068 which came with a display driver Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP. The computer keeps crashing because of an error with the file (ati2dvag.dll) in that it is stuck in an infinite loop.
I have tried to correct to no avail. I believe this driver is now discontinued but I cannot find out what to replace it with. I have tried updating the driver but it doesn't work.I even tried to update the display adapter but keep getting a message that I need an installation disc to do something with the file-(-atimtag.sys). As you can problaby tell I am a neophyte so any explanation will have to be very generic

Ati2dvag.dll blue screen error and dont shut down the PC

It's a problem with the video driver, device driver. ATI

Here's the fix for the infinite loop problem caused by ati2dvag.dll that has worked for some others.

Right click on My Computer
Choose Properties
Choose the Hardware(Tab)
Choose Device Manager(button)
Click the [+] next to System devices
Right click on CPU to AGP Controller
Choose the Update Driver(button)
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Choose Next(button)
Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."
Choose Next(button)
Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Hit Next(button)
Hit Finish(button)
Reboot.

This should resolve your issue.

Ati2dvag infinite loop how do I fix this

This seems to be a problem with the video card driver as ati2dvag is a part of it. What you could do is go into safe mode. Insert the drivers disc for your video. Reinstall the driver for your video card.

To go to safe mode just restart the computer and continuously pres f8 until you see the advanced options menu then press the arrow keys to highlight safe mode. Then press enter.

I received the following message on my graphic card ati radeon 200m series: there is an infinite loop on the file ati2dvag. And the errors numbers was: *** stop: 0X000000EA (0X847ACA 20, 0X0X84898F60,...

You should go to ATI's website, look up the video card you have, and download the newest software drivers for it. Video drivers can often cause blue screens and system errors when using an old version of the software.

Go to this website:
http://www.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDHomePage.aspx

When you get there, in the upper right hand corner there's a download section for software drivers. If you follow the menu, it will allow you to download the newest software for your video card. Good luck!

ATI Radeon IGP 340mM/345M display driver or software needed..

Go here:
ATI Catalyst 8.2 - ATI Radeon - XP

Then, near the bottom of the page, click on:
Individual driver download packages, ATI Multimedia Center, Avivo™, and Korean full package and download the Catalyst Control Centre package (download 2 of 3)

Here is a direct link, but i don't know if it will re-main active:
AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities
Then click on "Catalyst Control Center (English)"

This package will only install the ATi CCC. I personally have found that the ATI CCC doesn't like older cards, but some people have had luck getting it to work. If it doesn't work, you'll either have to find an older Catalyst Control Center, such as the one bundled with the Catalyst 4.10, or go back to using an old version of ATi Catalyst Control Panel.
