Replacement of starter cord on HC-150 hedger

You may have wrapped it the wrong way. If not, your spring is either broken, the bend on the end which slides into the plastic has straightened, or the plastic spool has broken where it holds the other bent end of the spring.

The starter cord jammed on recoiling, after attempting got release it the recoil spring rewound, now the cord and spring are interlocked. I'm looking to strip the recoil mechanism but I believe I

Its an easy opperation to undertake if you know how. Take note of where everything goes during the stripping down of the recoil assembly. Use eye protection when trying to recoil the rewind spring, they have a tendency to jump back out at you while coiling them back in. easiest way is to start by putting the hooked end into the plastic housing and work your way inwards coiling it back in. Then place the starter cord roller in on top, adding the one or two black sliders, the washer and the spring clip to hold it all in place.

Starter cord has jammed

You will have to remove the starter rewind mechanism and rewind the cord around the pulley, then pre- load a certain amount of tension on the rewind spring.

Starter cord will not rewind. How do I get to the coil spring? Is the clutch pressed on? Removing the clutch is the only way, I see, to remove the plastic housing. A breakdown would be very helpful.

The starter is on the flywheel side of the engine, not the clutch side. The whole starter mechanism should release from the left side case with the removal of three of four screws. Likely, you will find a broken rewind spring end, or it has slipped from a fastening point on one end or the other. Remove the starter cord to deal with the spring which should have several turns in a CCW direction to pull the cord back into the starter housing. If you need to make a fresh knot in the cord, be sure to melt the end to prevent the knot from pulling out. Hope this helps!

Ryobi SS30 Trimmer. Need to rewind pull cord. I already have the housing off. Need to know the next step in removing clutch assembly.

cut handle off,let spring unwind.remove piece that stops pulley from coming off, then take pulley off, should leave spring intact.dont touch the spring, hell of a job to refit..bolt holding clutch assembly is usually left hand thread.usually two springs holding the two small brake shoes.reasonably easy to go from there

Starter cord broke went to replace cord and spring came out. how do you rewind and reinstall spring and cord. have lots of tools

Best thing to do is replace the starter rope, if you don't, you're asking for trouble. Get the right length of rope, don't use a longer rope than recommended or you could wrap the spring too tight when you start the motor. I always replace the spring too. It's cheaper than trying to wind up the old one and get it back in. Good luck.

First, Im not sure where my air filter is on my troy built. Also, I my starter cord pulled out and wont wind back up. I got down to the clutch and cant figure out how to get the clutch off. What can I do?

airfilter is a square filter over the carburator if the cord is out its not the clutch its in the shroud the recoil sping is broken or needes to be redone what you can do is remove the string from inside shroud turn the coil like you pulling the rope when the spring is tight you can use a c-clamp hold it place reinsert rope & release c-clamp it should rewind

Strimmer Starter strip

You will need to take the housing off to expose the rewind mechanism. The most likely cause will be a broken rewind spring. Go on the WEB and search for your model and a part list. Locate the spring and order it. Once you install the spring, you will need to pre-tension the spring by by pulling the cord part way out and ciol it on the spool. Good luck
