Question about HP DeskJet 6840 InkJet Printer

HP printer doesn't work after clearing a paper jam

Deskjet 6840 printer does not work after clearing a paper jam. I was using a card stock when it jammed, and cleared it from the FRONT of the printer. I read later that clearing from the front can cause harm to printer. I went back and forth with HP via email and all they had me do was try to print using the front panel buttons. They also had me run through some steps to reset the printer. They gave up when I let them know that I could not print a test page. They said nothing about getting into the back and messing with the rollers and gears.

If you did not get ALL the jammed sheet out, there is still a small piece of paper in there somewhere, probably covering a sensor or micro switch. Get a torch and look carefully. If youu don't find anything you may need to disassemble the printer to find it. What have you got to loose?

Can i make copies of a paper

Hello.

If you have a HP DeskJet 6840 then you won't be able to make copies since it doesn't have a built-in scanner. You can buy a scanner separately, scan the document using the scanner and then print it using the HP.

Says paper jam but there isn't one. Have done all the troubleshooting steps..I do mean all of them. how do I get the paper jam status off my little hp deskjet 3845

I ran into a similar problem on another HP Laserjet Printer so this is what I found out from some tough researching. There is a step that requires a specialized tool which is inserted into the printer to clear the problem. This may be caused by an internal (no diagrams available) optical sensor that somehow gets covered with paper dust or blowback (ink particles blown backwards into the printer)? This tool may clear the problem, which I've heard is similar to a strip of heavy card stock. I have not found the procedure for this just that someone mentioned the same problem. Last resort is taking in the stupid printer to be serviced. Hopefully an HP tech will come forward and describe the procedure and maybe some maintenance diagrams. Good Luck.

I had a paper jam, and now every time i try to print it jams the ink cartrages , one paper jam and now it will not work

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
