Hi Randy

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, the first thing that we check is Fuse(s) as usually, when your if the microwave oven doesn't work at all, it means the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it. Please check the Fuses again. If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

If both of them are fine then most microwaves today have a flame-oven thermostat-safety built into them. This oven thermostat will open up (no continuity) when something has been overheated or set on fire in the oven. Usually the thermostat for the oven is on the top area. The flame-oven sensor-thermostat is suppose to be closed (full continuity ) all the time and will open up (no continuity ) when needed, like when something like a small fire in the oven occurs. Thanks for using FixYa.

    Hi Randy

Unfortunately I am unable to find its wiring diagram in my database so that I can show you where the thermal fuse is located, however it is always recommended to contact a qualified appliance repair technician for replacing/repairing any parts as these units have high voltage even when its switched off. You can also contact whirlpool at 866-698-2538 to schedule a repair service.

    Thanks

My hood fan quit working on my kenmore microwave/ hood combo. How do I fix?

Check to see if fan is getting power. If it is and the fan does not turn then you need to replace that motor. Also check motor bearings - not uncommon for them to get all gunked up with yuck from the air they push through the hood.

1. No power to outlet (overload or fault in microwave or other appliance).
2. Blown main fuse - likely due to other problems.
3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
4. Defective controller or its power supply.
5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).14f03872-81cf-492a-a958-5a445dcde206.gif

My Whirlpool/Roper microwave/hood combo has the same problem. I replaced the bulb twice, checked the bulb and it works, but not in the microwave. I wrote to Whirlpool asking about the problem. Haven't heard from them yet.

Everything quit working no power anywhere

Have you checked the fuse in the plug? Also there is an internal fuse that you have to remove the outer casing to get at. Please make sure the power is off and the plug is removed from wall socket before you start and do not power up until the casing is back on. Hope this helps.

Microwave arced, wont heat now

I'm assuming that it doesn't microwave either. If it does...then the heater is bad. Sears parts sells them. Second guess is a blown fuse or thermosensor. Inside the pad housing, locate the internal fuse and replace it if blown. The thermosensor is a black plastic bit about the diameter of a dime and 3/8 inch thick and clamped to the side of the unit inside the control area. Test it for continuity and replace if open. If not either of these, then you have power supply issues or control panel problems. My bet: the heater blew out. Often, this is caused when you heat greasy foods.
