    thanks, its actually central air and heat. Its a trane unit. I just played with the wires to see if i could get the cool air to come on and it did. I just hope i haven't done anything wrong that will cause a fire.

    I will look up that model of thermostat. You be careful that you don't connect the wires wrong and burn out the thermostat. As far as the voltage I don't think you can cause other than a shock of 24 volts ac. Now under the house that becomes more powerful with you being between it and the ground.Email me and I will send you the wiring diagram in PDF format...Sea Breeze

My Honeywell thermostat isnt keeping my house cool even though the temp is set to 69. Currently 90 degrees in here

Its probably not the thermostat. The air conditioner may be stuck on heating mode. If its a reverse cycle, the reversing valve may be jammed so even when the thermostat is calling for cold air, it stays on heat. If the machine is on heating mode, it should be blowing cold air out of the outdoor unit of the air con. If its on cooling mode, the outdoor should be blowing hot air.

Typically the four thermostat wires are:

R = power (or common)
G= FAN
W = Heat
Y = Cool

Assuming that you have a normal electric or gas furnace and air conditioning, if the heat really is coming on, then just switch the position of the the Yellow and White wires.

AC cools then blows hot air, tempature needle goes up & down

Sounds like the thermostat is trying to stick,and is causing the engine to over heat,therefore condenser is not cooling the freon down enough to cool.Have the thermostat changed and the cooling system bled out,this is most likely the cause.

The hot water from your engine cooling system is not getting into the heater core. Check out the valve that admits water into it.

Is it leaking antefreeze?
The thermostat might be gone or needs a bigger thermostat
It could be a vaccum leak for the drivers side blowing cool air and the passenger side blowing warm air
Does it have dual air control switches one for drivers side and one for passengers side?
