Peeling interior The paint (?) on the inside ceiling of my microwave is peeling. Does this mean the unit is unsafe and/or not working correctly?

This is what I thought, but wanted to be sure. It also has lots of rust on the inside of the door, on the ledge under the glass window from condensation, so I guess it's time to get a replacement. Thanks!

This may have already been dealt with, but others can benefit from an accurate, thoughtful reply to this problem.

You can sand the peeled area, even the rusted area in most cases, clean them squeaky dry, and repaint with high-temperature appliance paint available from places liek Wal-Mart, home improvement centers, and appliance parts stores.

No need to replace the microwave if you can clean and paint it properly.

Goldstar MA 1012 W model seems to be stuck in the defrost mode. I press the cancel and think it is off and a few seconds later the microwave turns on by it self. I have to unplug it between uses,

The problem you may have is arcing (sparks) inside while cooking.  If you see this then it's time to replace the microwave.  It will depend what material is under the paint.  Just keep an eye on it while cooking and if you don't see any sparks then it should be ok.

My Microwave got bubbles on the top ( ceiling). Is it still safe to use it or better to get a new one..( this one must be around or over 10 years old..) Need an answer asap please..

Hello, Elke -

By "bubbles on the top (ceiling)" of your microwave, do you mean it seems that the paint / interior coating is bubbling and may eventually peal off? If so . . .

Read the information here:
https://www.hunker.com/13407894/the-inside-of-my-microwave-is-peeling

The well-respected U.S. magazine, Conusmer Reports, which evaluates the quality of a variety of consumer items, states microwave ovens have an average life expectancy of 9 years. See:

Inside of microwave top peeling and blistering

If it's paint peeling, then once that paint is gone, rust will set in, which can cause arcing and disintegration of the chassis, when ruins the oven.

This peeling is usually the result of excess moisture accumulating in the oven due to blocked air vents or poor fan circulation.

Once those two issues have been ruled out or dealt with, then always be sure to dry out or leave the microwave open after use.

The peeling paint will need to be removed, then the area should be sanded.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

When i turn the microwave on it has electrical short it is like there is something metal inside and everything still works what causes the electical flash

The interior of the microwave is insulated with an industrial white enamel paint to prevent the magnetron from arcing on the inside, some of the enamel has worn off exposing metal,or the magnetron is shorting, either way this is very unsafe to use and should be checked quickly, and left unplugged in the process.

Paint inside microwave oven bottom is peeling

The oven cavity will probably start to rust where the paint is gone. If you're up to it, sand it and paint it with a color that matches the interior color. Other then colors, there is nothing special about paint inside a microwave.

Inside finish is peeling off

No, if the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

Otherwise, you can have rust and arcing, which can be messy.

Paint peeling inside microwave

If the unit has been operating properly for some time with no issues, I would say it is fine to continue to use. The issue I would have would be with the possibility with the paint falling into the food.

It would be interesting for you to call the manufacturers' support line and ask why this is happening. Maybe they will offer you a replacement if it was a manufacturing process defect. Mention that the paint may have fallen into the food.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Peeling paint

You need to thoroughly clean it, then sand it smooth to removew all the loose paint.

Once it's squeaky clean and dry, you can apply high-temperature appliance paint, which is available in brush-on or spray-on form at big box stores like Wal-Mart, home improvement centers like Lowe's and appliance parts stores.
