Thank you dh1200s. I am trying the the lube first but ordering the clutch. I just bought the machine (used) and it seemed to work great then. Could I have damaged it in the move? I was strapped down really well.

There is not water in the tub but you can hear some slosh in the machine. The tub will not turn if i try to turn it with my hand. The clothes are really wet and ususally twisted up. My son is looking at it tomorrow with all your suggestions. We are going to try the lube and grease first. I did try the Sensor check and it didn't stop as much.

AZ? What is that? Can I order it online? Do you have a part #

  • sandy1923 May 23, 2009

The basket doesnt' move at all! Thanks for the info to order the clutch. The guy I bought it from said he just did a load. I don't really believe that. I don't think the machine just stopped.

  • sandy1923 May 23, 2009

Thanks.... My son is coming out Monday. Sandy

  • sandy1923 May 23, 2009

That's what my son thought as well

Hello Sandy,

This machine suffers from a poor clutch design. The roller clutch bearings get rusted up and start to drag in spin in cycle of the wash cycle causing the tumblers to rotate more then designed at the start of spin cycle. The result is continuous dc/UC errors in spin cycle. You can’t redistribute the load to solve this issue. The good news is this can be solved by the average DIY’er. Mine failed with dc/UC errors at the 3.5yr mark and many owners have had the same failure. It’s a $1000 machine that can have it’s service life extended with a clutch replacement. As with any machine it has had other issues that some folks work thru, some don’t and move on.

Take a look thru this post and see if the SM and Sears Parts direct links will help you. I have some pic’s of the clutch and a step by step process to remove and replace the clutch in the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW machine. I’m an owner like you not a repair person but have helped a number of folks thru this process. If you call in a repair service you will be looking at a $350+ repair. I recommend a $50 clutch in that post I’m pointing you to and you may get away with a roller clutch bearing clean up and re-lube. I feel it’s better to just replace the clutch. Let me know if I can help ya…. Rich

It’s possible before you replace the clutch or even clean/re-lube, run thru this test to check out the Tub Displacement Sensor. It’s possible in the move something like the TDS popping out of it’s mounting. It might be worth removing the front panel to inspect and compare against first pic in this post.

3.0 Tub Displacement Sensor Diagnostics check.

3a. Enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

3b. Press the Super Wash key display reads “in”…something like that.

3c. Press Delicates the Display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).

3d. Push tub to the back right corner of the machine the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). Release tub and the display will show “UC” (Unbalance Closed).

    3e. Press Hand Wash.

3f. Pull tub to the front left corner while pushing the tub down the display should change to “UO” (Unbalance open). If you receive these results your Tub Displacement Sensor should be OK.

    Hi msrushing,

Can you explain? There will be some water left in the system but should not be visible in the wash basket and per the statement "clothes are soaked". sandy1923 is failing in spin cycle with UC error code to the console which has stoped the wash/spin cycle of the machine. This may be a one time occurence... we haven't heard back for the forum member.

    Hi msrushing,

Can you explain? There will be some water left in the system after a normal wash cycle but water should not be visible in the wash basket and per the statement "clothes are soaked". sandy1923 is failing in spin cycle with a UC error code (unbalance error) to the console which has stopped the wash/spin cycle of the machine. This may be a one time occurrence... we haven't heard back from the forum member if they experienced multiple failures in spin cycle with dc/UC unbalance errors. Most folks experiencing dc/UC errors report the machine not draining properly with dc/UC error codes. That is because the machine starts off with a fair amount of water in the tub going to spin cycle. I believe the Maytag design team may have did that to help dampen out tub oscillations as the wash basket spins up. That is just a WAG for me after observing my FAV6800AWW in normal operation. Wish the Maytag design team would built the machine around a better design for the clutch system rather then this open one-way roller clutch bearing design with it’s high failure rate.

    Hi Sandy,

If the wash basket is stiff to rotate CCW then I suspect the roller clutch bearings are the issue. My machine used a single roller clutch bearing in the clutch pulley hub. A clean up with WD-40 got me back in svr. Most FAV6800AWW machines have a upper and lower roller clutch bearing. I'm with you see if you can get back in svr with a clean up/re-lube. If that fails I would go with the $50 clutch I recommend from AZ. Shout out if you need help.

    Hi Sandy.

AZ is ApplianceZone.com a on line parts supplier. In the post I pointed you to at the bottom of the post I have this link. $50 dollar clutch ; Clothes Washer Clutch - 25001169 P/N 25001169. It cost me around $53 shipped to the house in a couple of days. Drop the clutch out first and inspect and see if it will clean up. If the clutch roller bearings will clean up you may get a bit more service life out of the machine. Can you try this if you haven started to drop out the clutch. With the lid raised and with a normal clutch roller bearing you should be able to rotate the wash basket CCW with your finger with very little resistance do you have resistance? If you spin the wash basket up by hand as fast as you can in the CCW direction the wash basket should coast 15 times or so to a stop does it? Rich

Take a look at this post see if you want to troubleshoot and DIY the repair. To have it fixed you are looking at $350+ DIY and you may have to spend $53 to extend the service of your $!K machine. I will help you as much as I can from here. Rich

    Hey Sandy,

Yea drop the clutch out and let’s go from there. It's $1K machine with the info supplied so far I feel it's worth pulling out the clutch and replacing. It sounds like the roller clutch bearings are rusted up.

What spin cycle are you using? Try a faster spin option. (The wrinkle release setting uses more water and a lower spin speed.)
Try putting fewer items in a load in the futute and make sure it isn't unbalanced. (One really heavy item could imbalance the load and shift the spin efficiency.) Redistribute the clothes and run a Drain/Spin cycle.
Make sure to use HE detergent (don't use more than the recommended amount of detergent).

The other issue to check is if the machine is draining properly. Check that the drain hose isn't clogged. Also check the voltage at the washer - low voltage will result in a slower spin cycle. To correct this, you probably will want to call an electrician.

I hope this helps.

Washer does not finish cycle..it stops at spin and it displays a 'dc' code...what is this

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
dC code from the Service Manual = Distribute Clothes: The load is unbalanced, preventing high speed spin. Redistribute clothes.
Your wash tub is banging around during the spin cycle correct?
You can redistribute the wash basket load until the cows come home the issue will only continue to get worse. Maybe start throwing uC error codes to the console display for continuous unbalance error code.
Your FAV6800A or FAV9800A has a Clutch malfunction. It can be corrected if you are handy see this DIY fix Clutch Fix. post.

Was washing ok until the last spin then it stop and uc lights are blinking what is uc?its does'tspinat all now

The "uc"code on the Neptune indicates a "continuous unbalanced circuit". Check to make sure that the weight of the clothing is distributed evenly in the tub. There can be a few causes for the generation of this code and you might want to consult an appliance technician for assistance. Bad shocks can cause this by permitting the tub to be out of balance, but you didn't describe any banging, etc. The tub displacement sensor could be at fault. The pump and pressure switch should also be checked for proper operation and to make sure there is no obstructions in those components. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

We have a WFL 2090 UC Bosch Axxis Front end load washer. When we use the Power Wash option, the clothes are soaking wet when the cycle is completed. Are we supposed to use the Power Temp or Power Boost...

Are you sure that your washer spins? that your pump drains? You should not have this problem. Do you load your laundry properly (too much laundry- should not be more than 3/4 of the diameter of the drum)?

After the spin cycle runs the clothes are still soaking wet

I had that problem at one time with my old washer and what it ended up being was the Washer Dog Agitators were broken and causing the it to slip and not spin correctly. I would try checking the Dog Agitators.
Here's A picture of a typical top-load washer breakdown to show you where they are located --->Here<---
I hope this helps. If that is the problem I bought mine at Sears for about $8, normally in stock item.
