My roll is only half used and i have had the printer for a year now and this problem has only just started. It seems to happen when the printer has been going for a couple of hours and after it has printed a print with the missed colour it immediately prints a correct one with out me asking it to.

  • carolprime May 16, 2009

Not sure if this is the problem as the paper doesn't go back into the printer when it misses a colour it stays out while the colour rolls on then starts to print on the next colour usually misses the red. surely if it was the rod heating it would miss the first colour out but would still pass the paper over the rod but just not print.

That sounds possible but do you have a diagram to show me which gear wheels you mean as there seem to be quite a few.

We have a sports photography business and are working tomorrow so will let you know if it helps. The picture was only of the media not any gears but i will have a look in the printer and see what i think looks the right ones.

The printing capacity of per roll is :-- 8 x 10 inch: 170 sheets per roll  and 8 x 12 inch: 150 sheets per roll. also if you printed that much then its time for replacing the roll. but in case if you have not printed that much, then also the the roll needs to be replkaced.because in the printer there is a thermal rod on which the papper roll passes and that results in printout.many a times the thermal rod  stop detecting the roll.and so the new roll has to be when ever the new roll is inseted the thermal rod gets reseted .and because of that reset the prints come out proper.
as many of my clients facing this problems solves this problem.just by replacing the printing paper roll.
Please do rate the solution. Thank you for using fixya.keep updated. thanks

ok ok got it.this is the problem of thermal rod heating element.actually the thermal rod gets very heated from its internal side and prints on the paper.but in your case its not getting heated so its happening.that after printing some missing colour prits the thermal rod gets heated and then it starts main point the thermal rod never gets faulty  always the faulty part is heater ic on the main board.the ic gets bit a weak and instead of heating the thermal rod directkly as the printer is turned on ,heats the thermal rod after sometimes.the ic is located on main board of the printer.for that printer needs to be disassembled.get it done by the local printer repair professional.the cost of ic is not more then $5 and it is easily available on local electronics hardware shop.the number of ic will be embosed on its tiny body.
the cost of getting it done by a technician will be negligible.

very correct.if the paper is not getting till the thermal rod.then its a problem of the side gears which pulls the remove the paper roll and apply vaseline on both the gears in the roll and on both the gears in the printer from where paper passes.
then check out after certain prints it will get the required fluency and will start performing.if the gears looks cracked or worn out then gera needs replacement,.
    this will help.thanks.

  • charlymonty May 16, 2009

click this link the gears opposite to this rollers shown in the the picture is showing the paper rollers but the gears are on the opposite side of the paper rollers in your printer.

  • charlymonty May 16, 2009

    ok.keep updated.till where have you reached.thanks.

  • charlymonty May 17, 2009

the gears needs to be checked by a technician at your place.also they have a spare copiers at their work shop so they will check out by replacing parts.
as the problem lies between three things
    1)the roll
2)the thermal rod sensor connection on main board
    3)the gears.
he will have all the possibilities with him as spare to check out 1 by 1.
that will be easier and simple method to detect the faulty so you can get the exact faulty part replaced .

Why am I missing colors on prints

Could be the print job you send to the printer is set up to print in black and white.
Or the cartridges are full and the nozzles from the printhead are blocked.
Run a cleaning cycle on the printer. If some colour appears continue till all colours are back for all nozzles.
If you did not use he printer for a long time, remove the cartridges one by one and put a drop of cleaning fluid in the pipes in the cartridge holder (where the ink goes in) tun replace the cartridge and print one or two full sized colour photos, till all colours are back.

Colour problem

If the printer gives magenta instead of red you have a problem with one of the other colors. Magenta needs other colors to print red. Print a cofiguration print and check witch color is bad or missing. Replace the cartrridge of the missing/bad color

The pink colour is missing every time i clean the

Probably one of the red cartridges is empty or near empty or possibly the yellow - it will miss whatever color is low or empty or substitute the next closest shade using the remaining colors if one is out.

Colour cartridge missing but I only want to print

No you cannot. Each one of your cartridges is smart chipped. When this cartridge registers as empty it acts as an on/off switch thus turning the printer off.'

You need to replace the empty cartridge in order to print.

Go printer settings and check option to print only black.

2 Missing ink black streaks

Check the dev unit for missing lines. Also clean the laser glass with the supplied cleaner pad - though if the problem were caused by toner on the lens, there would be gaps in ALL colours.

Check the dev units first. You can also do a stop test whilst a full colour test image is half way through printing and see if the lines are missing off the image on the PCU as well.
