Question about Skull Candy Lowrider Headphones

Lowrider 360 Skullcandy Headphones don't seem to work on my xbox.

I recently bought a pair of Lowrider Skullcandy headphones and the sound/voices is hardly audible through the earphones. I was told that I could be heard, but it was extremely difficult to hear me. Every option that could affect this was checked and rechecked multiple times, every wire is exactly where it should be, and I spent 30 minues on the phone with tech support. The tech support said that if the volume is turned all the way up on the headphones then the volume should hurt your ears, which is hardly the case. I returned the original pair and got a new one from target, but I've still got the same problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, I had this same issue, the solution is to go too Settings/System Settings/Console Settings/Audio/Digital Output and select Dolby Digital with WMA Pro.

Also change your Prefrences/Voice to Play through both and crank the volume to 10.

The thing you need to realize is, the headphones are not defective. Headphones cannot choose to individually make voices/game noises/music louder or quieter. Either they play audio or they dont.
What your issue is, is configuration with the xbox (the soucre FEEDING the headphones) Only there can you choose the amount of voice/game noises/music and their respective levels.

Any further settings will need to be assisted by an xbox support person.

Headphone Repair


The cable that is used in the headphones is actually very low quality and very weak so easily broken, You may be able to remove the wiring from another pair of headphones and use it.
Unfortunately Skullcandy are not a high end brand so no spare parts are really available as they are made in china as you can see on the following link.

Skullcandy lowrider headphone band snapped or broke. earphones work perfect but can't wear on my head.


If you live in the USA or Canada Skull Candy have a lifetime warranty on thier products so I would check with them. Even if you don't still enquire.

Skullcandy lowrider xbox 360 headset microphone not working. I can hear but mic dosen't work


Either it's not plugged in all the way or there is a short in the line somewhere. I would pop the ear cover off to look at the wiring, it could have come unsoldered.

I'm also a stickler for sound I was devastated when my iPod touch headphone jack broke. I think it's impossible to find a pair of headphones that never blow. I'm using skullcandy lowriders at the minute and they are great except you can hear the sound coming out of the headphones from a mile away. I would reccomend sending your headphones back to Bose or wherever you brought it from. Most stores have a 1 year return guarantee on all products. Hope I was of help, Jess.

No sound


Try messing with the plug. Otherwise your wires might have broken somewhere. This happened to me from using them so much, and it wasn't just these. It happened to a pair of expensive sony earphones. Just happens when you use them a lot.

I can't seem to hear anything from my left ear in my Skullcandy Lowrider headphones. Is there anyway to get them fixed with out needing to get a new pair as they were a present??


If you have used the headphones a lot then your wires probably broke. I had the same thing happen to me, and also on a pair of expensive sony earphones. So it's not the brand. It just happens over time when use headphones/earphones a lot.

I cant use my microphone on my skullcandy lowrider headphones


OK OK OK, the lowriders use dolby digital with WMA playback, and there is a setting in ur xbox settings where u can change that. BUT UR NOT DONE YET. press the Xbox button, go to settings go to prefrences, go to mic and check the box that sais "play through both." and now u can hear the ppl and talk. however, what they dont tell u is that the mic interfears with the WMA, so all u need to do is just buy an inline volume adjuster at walmart (wally world) for like 3 bux (the one that coems with it is regualted by FDA or wtvr and has no sound which is verry unlike skull candy). THESE headsetes arnt cheaply made at all 2 tell the truth, they shooda came with instructions, but once u get em going, they r insane! i have a pair of turtle beach x5s and its nice, but not as good asthe lowriders. and anotehr feture they dont tell u, if u get a volume adjuster with the "base gain" swicth, it works on the lowriders, so u can add a little rumble and umph to ur headset.
