Now I don’t know how unplugging it or moving it would cause that problem but it does sound like you might have an issue with the refresh rate and or screen resolution at a setting that is to high for the screen to display (safe mode only loads windows core components and minimal set of drivers like basic vga driver for display which is why it probably works in safe mode)

If you are running windows XP then try the following:

Ok try hitting F8 key before XP logo appears for boot menu then select "enable vga mode" then after you get to a desktop go to display settings and lower the screen resolution and refresh rate setting
(refresh rate should be at 60hz) resolution could be different depending on which screen you have there... but try 1024x768 just to be safe then reboot into normal mode and see if it works and if it does then you can adjust the resolution to what it was before problem occurred

If you are running Windows Vista then boot from the Vista CD and select “repair my computer” and then “fix startup problems” and it should do it for you

My daughters acer one will not upload. She unpluged and closed when it was updating 118 updates, well thats what she told me. Now it goes to a screen with Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ Networking, Safe Mode w/...

There is a simple solution for you, just move to safe mode and then run in safe mode. After same mode chose option of Restore and after restarting once again run in safe mode then restart and start with normal windows.

Your issues has been resolved.

Good Luck --- Thanks

After booting my latop will run slow motion

Goto start and run msconfig. In the Startup tab select Disable all. DO the same for Services. Give it a restart.
If you can't do the above in normal mode then do it in safe mode.
Restart your pc and watch the difference.

How to Bypass or Remove a BIOS Password by Removing the CMOS Battery:
The simplest way to remove a BIOS password is to simply remove the CMOS battery. A computer will remember its settings and keep the time even when it is turned off and unplugged because these parts are powered by small battery inside the computer called a CMOS battery. If we pull out this battery, the computer will forget alot of its hardware settings, including its BIOS password. This should not be performed on Laptops if you are not experienced working with laptop hardware.

When i turn my computer dell latitude d620 on it comes to the dell screen then the windows xp screen and then it goes black with nothing more than the mouse. what could be the problem?

This sounds like a video issue. Try starting the system into safe mode (after the dell screen, tap F8 to get the startup menu and then select safe mode) When in safe mode, go to the control panel and remove the display adapter driver from the device manager under System > hardware tab. Try booting into normal mode windows- you should be able to get into windows at that point. Download and reinstall the graphics driver from support.dell.com. If the issue reoccurs after you've reinstalled the graphics driver, it means that the video card on your system has gone out. At that point, contact Dell technical support if you are in warranty to get service- if not, try pricing the replacement video card from Ebay or Dell parts service.

You probably have tried this, but make sure monitor is set to correct display... i.e., Analog or Digital

Also, try starting in safe mode and verify Monitor is able to handle the display settings resolution

First, see if you can run diagnostics from the F12 menu or from the Dell Resource CD and see if the HDD or any other hardware indicates a failure. If you are having a hardware failure, there is no point in trying to fix a software issue until the hardware is fixed.

If the HDD fails diags, replace it. If it passes, then try booting to the XP CD, and see if you can boot to recovery console, and run CHkDSK /R

Mouse and keyboard hangs while system still runs in monitor.

try this...

Use Acer eRecovery or your eRecovery Disc. If you do not have eRecovery, you may buy it from acer for $30.

Use your "Upgrade you Vista Experience" CD, reinstall Windows, (Use your Product Key and Activate Windows, I recommend using Phone) and download the drivers for your computer (Windows should find most drivers.

To backup your files, use a USB Thumb drive, start in safe mode and copy the files to the thumb drive. (To start in safemode, restart your computer, after you see the Acer Splash screen, press F8 until you see a menu. Using your keyboard, navigate to Safe Mode. Windows should start now. If Safe Mode does not work, you can't backup your files easily unless you run your HDD in another computer as a Slave.

Finding where the problem is.
Start windows in SAFE MODE
You will see the last file that it hangs at. Usually AGP440.sys

Disabling AGP440.sys

Boot the system - Hold F8 Key
before the METER BAR on the bottom starts

Go to the Recovery Mode -
When it ask for directory <1> should be shown (unless you have multiple boot partitions.
When in the console mode enter
disable AGP440 (or AGP440.sys)
***depends on SP level***

Exit the console and attempt to reboot normally

White Screen

Safe mode it works forever?

Try reseting your video settings.
Right click the desktop
Go to properties
Click the settings tab
Choose your optimum resolution 600x800 and 1024x768 are most common. Unless you have a wide screen.

If that doesnt help try disabling programs that start with the pc. However unlikley it may see, if everything works fine in safe mode, it must be related.

Start > Run > Msconfig
Click the start up tab.
Click "Disable All"
reboot

How does it work now?
