I was driving in parking lot stopped then proceeded and had no power in drive or reverse. Every time i would switch to drive or reverse made loud grinding noise. Took it to dealership said something with the right front axel popped out put were able to pop it back togather for $100.00 got it back yesterday, went to store this morning and same thing happened! Service manager said it would be fine to drive on for awhile when i picked it up but i needed a new right front axel in time. i plan on taking it back to them tomorrow but i want to look at problem myself. what are they talking about????
The CV joint of the axle most likely at the hub end of axle.contained inside of a rubber boot full of grease.you cant see the actual joint but by graspping the axle and asserting force up/down,left/right you should be able to tell if the joint has "ruptured" or seperated. best fix is ALWAYS a new axle.repairing a boot or joint = $$parts,$$$$labor?
/new axle=$$parts,$labor plus most new after-market axles carry a lifetime warranty and its only a matter of time until the boots dry rot loose grease and go bad.next time only cost labor to switch axle.A "slipping" axle will give a loss of propellsion will actually prevent the transfer of driveline power from transmission to wheels.

You are about to spend more money if that u-joint fails while you are driving. Get it fixed now..Good luck
SOURCE: 1990 Grand Am won't take fuel after loud "pop"
That light that looked like a boat to you? That was your oil pressure light. Sounds to me you lost oil somewhere
SOURCE: Won't drive in reverse
Failed Transmission Again
Part with it
Get something else
