The touch screen stopped working. Everything seems to be the same but the touch is not on.
I did not upgrade my computer before the update, I did not reinstall any software. Its just odd it suddenly stopped working.
You may try inserting a wireless or wired mouse in to a USB port to get some activity. As long as your screen comes up, the movement of the screen should be taken over by the mouse and temporarily bypass the touch screen application. if you right click on "my computer" and click on manage, the console that opens has an option to look at the windows event viewer. if you look there, are there any errors reporting the shutdown (look in application and system logs) Otherwise you might be right in diagnosing the heating problem -> try to vacuum out the dust from the grid that sucks in the air -> if this doesn't help it may be time to replace the fan...
try in safemode using f8, or else go to repair your computer in same screen and try system restore to reset computer to an earlier time. still not working then recovery is only option. use the alt+f10 keys on the system power up.
There should be a USB receiver inside the battery compartment of your mouse. Plug it in to the computer and try using the connect button on the keyboard and mouse. That should do the trick.
