It's a common problem when upgrading a OS? Is the DVD rom the only component that's missing a driver? Any Unknown Devices? Have you opened the Device Manager and looked for the DVD? In Device Manager, Scan For Hardware Changes. Not Listed? Have you done ALL your windows Updates? All the HP updates? Try the driver here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-58707-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=2093&product=3548266&sw_lang= Download the software and SAVE to a folder. Modify the compatibility of the software from Win 7, using this procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-compatibility-mode/ BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A RESTORE POINT. With this procedure: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-restore-point.

Laptop: Sony Vaio Serial Tag: C3LRMD7Q Model: PCG7133L Need information for recovery disks for the foremention laptop. The OS is Windows VISTA Home Premiun.

Hi,

The VAIO Model VGN-NR498E/S is shipped with Recovery partition in the hard drive. It is required to create the recovery discs as soon as you get the notebook. Using either recovery discs or the recovery center you can reinstall the preinstalled OS in the computer. But, it depends if you has changed the preinstalled OS, the recovery partition will be erased and no longer be accessible.

However, in your case, if you not made any changes to the preinstalled OS, restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key. this will launch the recovery tools. On the next screen, press Enter key. Then you will be able to view options such as "Restore C Drive", "System Restore" etc. There select "Restore C Drive" to reinstall the preinstalled Vista OS in the Computer.

If you have changed the preinstalled OS in the computer, then it is requires to purchase the recovery discs from Sony's parts center:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/productSearch.do?searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318272A&sessionId=pfBoWO6gh7vj_fseXl4oiMI

The above part is no longer available with them However, you can use the part #Y8318272A to search for the recovery discs with online retailers and others.

Thanks!!!!

I cant get the dell vista os reestore disk to boot up

Use external USB CD/DVD Drive to run your Windows Vista Operating System to Restore Disk.
Maybe your Built-in CD/DVD cannot read or access your OS.

If you don't have this device, you try another Windows Vista OS Disc.
Good luck!

Toshiba L40-A510

There are a lot of things that do not work on Vista that do work on XP. For that reason some of my client's have asked me to re-install XP so they would not have to upgrade their hardware and software programs. You could have the same problem.

Toshiba won't boot vista.

Nowadays most laptops come with the software already built in. The only thing i can think of is you'l need to buy a windows vista disc (any computer store) and re-install it. hope i helped.

Updating Quickbooks on Vista OS

There are a couple of things going on here.
First, and most important, Qb 2005 was not designed to run on Vista. Vista was barley even in the planning stages when 2005 was programmed. Vista will probably run it, but in a compatability mode ( pretending to be an older version of Windows), but updating the program will be nightmarish at best because the updates are pointing to files that are either 1) no longer used by Windows or 2) the versions and functionality of the files has changed.
My best advice- restore the backup on an XP box, or get a later version of QuickBooks that will run on Vista.
