Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook

Cannot get by dell screen to come back on once it hibernates

After my Dell Inspiron 6400 is idle for a while, the screen goes off. I cannot get it to come back on at all. The power is still on, but I must shut down with the power button.

I have tried using the FN button and the Stand by, Hibernate, battery, etc.

i have tried changing the the startings as well. Any suggestions.

Sounds like a power scheme setting is shutting off your monitor after a time-out period. sometimes monitor will not return without re-boot. change your power options settings in control panel.

3 lights o right hand side of laptop what do they mean

The user manual will supply an in-depth explanation of the led-indicators, aswell as there are normally small icons assigned to each light, sometimes engraved in the plastics, normal lights to be active at average usage are the Power led indicator, will glow as long as device is turned on, the Wireless led indicator will glow when the wireless network module is active, the CPU led indicator will flash occasionally when system is idle, and rapidly when system is active under load, and the Battery led indicator will be active when device is running on battery power. When device goes into sleep or hibernate mode the sleep led indicator might continuously glow or slowly switch on & off varying between systems.

Type cmd into the start menu search box, and use Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open in administrator mode. You can also right-click the item in the menu and choose Run as Administrator. From the command prompt window type the following command
powercfg /hibernate on
restart your computer and it will take effect.

Dell 1721 fails to boot

do a hard shutdown by holding the power button down until all the lights and power go off. reboot and then right click on the desktop and select properties. go to the screen saver tab and then the power tab set the side when it is plugged in to never turn off monitor, never turn off hard disks, never go on standby. Of course you can set other time limits, but remember that it will go back to hibernating if the limit is exceeded.
hope it helps
