Do you subscribe to the HD, if you do you will have to activate it through the menu button, go into the aspect ratio and set it on 720p or 1080i press OK the it will run a test...press the "up" arrow and then press OK.

Now on Uverse you can only get HD through the HDMI or the Component, red green blue, outputs.

Use the component connection not the HDMI. Some of the ATT boxes have issues with the HDMI ports. Uverse is only broadcast in 1080i not p so you will not lose any video quality.

I need the remote code for a pioneer vsx502 receiver for att uverse remote

I used 5120 to turn off and on the receiver on the Aux button, I am also control the volume on the recevied by assigning the volume control using 955 code. The one thing I lack is a way to change the receiver input between BD, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc. I still have to go to the Receiver remote for that. I know the Uverse Receiver can't do everything, but if I could just get the input to change on the UVerse Remote, it would be awesome. I'm trying to avoid getting a Harmony. The blu-ray and tv also work, which is great! See this reference for the silver remote:

If you have black, you may need to visit the AT&T support site to get the black manual.

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

if you are using hdmi cable, you should switch to using component cables for the video - (red/blue/green) - you will need to use the white/red for your sound (or the optical cable) - uverse is aware of the issue and if you call they probably wont be able to send someone out but they can give you a credit for buying the cables

I just got a Denon AVR-588 7.1 Channel reciever w/ no video

Dear,

I donot think AVR588 is capable of down-converting from HDMI to component, so if you input is only HDMI and output is component, it will not work. ( see page 53 in trouble shooting as also page10 of the manual).
Therefore, you will need to match your input with your output.

If you are not too fussy, the component video signal is probably as good..You will hardly see a difference unless your AVR is capable of up-conversion, still the real difference can really be seen only on HD.
Best is to connect all the analog connections as well and enjoy.

HDTV-AT&T UVERSE

First of all, is your blue "HD" light lit up on the front of your Uverse box?

If yes, then you're in HD

If No, you need to check your connections from Box to TV
1.Those Red-Blue-Green cables are for video only, they don't carry sound and shouldn't be connected to audio outs. Audio needs a seperate cable. Make sure your Red isn't on the audio out which is also red. Make sure your blue and green aren't switched with each other either. Check that at both ends.
2. Try an HDMI cable. It will carry audio and video together and it's one cord instead of 5.
3. What brand/model of TV is it? Is it an older projection TV? The HD tuner might be shot. The individual color tubes commonly fail after a few years.
4. Are you selecting 720p or 1080i from your TV's menu or from the Uverse menu? You'll need to set it through the Uverse box, not the TV.
5.Follow -Menu -Settings -Aspect Ratio to change to 720 or 1080. This should start an autotest which will scramble your picture for about 5 seconds, then bring you back to a menu asking you to keep settings or revert back settings. If you never see that question pop up, then your TV isn't supporting the HD, and you settings will be rolled back automatically. If the question does pop up and you can read it, select "keep settings" and press OK. Your blue HD light should come on the front of the box now.

1st time using component video connections on my onkyo

Yes, switch to the video input that you are trying to configure (i.e. video 1-4). Press the menu button on the receiver or the remote and cycle to video settings. There should be a setting that says "video output" or "output" - set that to component. You may also have to configure the Input for that particular setting. For instance, if you have an HD tivo going into component 2 but you want it to be Video 1. Select Video 1, hit the menu button and scroll to video setup. Select video input setup and cycle it to component 2. Next, use the menu to cycle to video setup, select video output, switch to component. This should solve your problem. As a sidenote, you may also have to configure the audio in/out if you're using digital coax or optical. Let me know if this works.
