lid switch is bad chance are you can by pass this by removing the timer header and crossing the outer wire on the lid switch that it mounted closest to the lid not the power cord this will tell you if you need a switch

If you look at the back of the timer lined up with the center of the Knob there is a black or gray plastic part pull that out about an inch then the kbob will come off

I'm not sure of the model number of the stove but usually slide a putty knife under the control panel between the bottom of the control and the top of the base. There is a clip on each side then the panel will tilt back and you can take it off. After that there are 2 gold clips that hold the back on to the base. Remove them by snapping then out of the base. The the whole thing is loose and the base (where the lid and sides are. Comes out as 1 big piece. If you get the model number from under the lid, you can go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?intcmp=xsite_Sears
and it will show you a breakdown of the machine. Let me know if you need anything else.

When you look down into the agitator, are there 4 white plastic points that look slightly melted or otherwise deformed? If so, using a small flat head screw and a small hammer, separate the white plastic from the surrounding translucent plastic. Once you've done that, it should easily pull apart.
