1995 Chev 2500 will not start

The rotor and wheel bearing come out as an assembly. First put the axle nut back on tight before you do any hammering unless you want to put on a new wheel bearing anyway. If you hammer it with the nut off you risk the chance of separating the bearings in the hub and destroying it. Dont forget to remove the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the wheel bearing in from the back side. Once you get the hub broke loose from the truck then remove the axle nut and remove the assembly. Be careful not to break the abs sensor or wire. To remove the rotor from the hub place the assembly on the bench and drive out all of the lug bolts and the rotor will drop right off.)) I agree with this, good answer, and easy on the hammer.

To install:
  1. Place the starter motor in the transaxle and support by hand.
  2. Install the two mounting bolts and tighten them to 29-31 ft. lbs. (39-42 Nm).
  3. Connect the connector to the magnetic switch. Place the battery cable on the switch terminal and install the nut. Tighten the nut and position the rubber boot over the cable.
  4. Using the ignition switch, "bump'' the starter over a few times and check for proper operation.

Hope helps.

1988 Chevy Tahoe Starter going out. Need to replace

Generally starters have 2 or 3 bolts and a thick wire coming from the battery and other miscellaneous connections.

You did not specify a vehicle that was on my list, i.e. 1988 Chevy Tahoe.

However, it may be similar to a Suburban R10:
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION The following is a general procedure for all trucks covered in this manual, and may vary slightly depending on model and series.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect and tag all wires at the solenoid terminal. NOTE: Reinstall all nuts as soon as they are removed, since the thread sizes are different.
  4. Remove the front bracket from the starter and the mounting bolts. On engines with a solenoid heat shield, remove the front bracket upper bolt and detach the bracket from the starter. Fig. 1: Starter mounting location — 4.8L engines 84903021.gif
    Fig. 2: Starter mounting location — 4.3L and 5.0L engines 84903022.gif
    Fig. 3: Starter mounts — 5.7L and 7.4L engines 84903023.gif

  5. Remove the front bracket bolt or nut. Lower the starter, front end first, then remove the unit from the truck. To install:
  6. Position the starter and tighten all bolts as follows: R/V Series:
    • Thru-bolts: 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)
    • Bracket bolt: 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm)
    • Nut (gas): 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm)
    • Nut (diesel): 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm)
    C/K Series:
    • Thru-bolts: 35 ft. lbs. (45 Nm)
    • Bracket bolt (diesel): 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm)
    • Nut (diesel): 75 inch lbs. (8.5 Nm)
  7. Reconnect all wires. Fig. 4: Disconnect the negative battery cable 87982p25.jpg

How do I replace a starter on a 1993 chevy pickup truck

You'll want to disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery. Remove the 14mm or 15mm nut holding the battery cable to the starter, and the 8mm nut holding the small wire to the starter. Remove the 2 14mm bolts going up thru the starter, into the block.

I need to replace the fuel pump how would i do that in a chev silverado 2500   02   do i have to drop the tank and pull it out from the top?

either drop the tank or remove the bed, I have worked on some chevy trucks that you HAD to remove the bed as the bolts that hold the tank were inaccessible.

96 Chevy S-10 starter problems

Just did this, take the long bolt out of the passenger side engine mount, loosen the two transmission mount bolts and jack the right side of oil pan slowly, when you do this there will be enough clearance between the bell housing and frame, be sure to use a jack stand to be safe.
Put the starter motor in the space with the selonoid up and wiggle forward into position then insert bolts and hook up connections. Let the motor down, put the motor mount bolt back in, tighten transmission mount.
