Hello baileysx4. #1- analyze. This will give you the Ah or mAh. Ampes hour or milliAmps hour. Stateing battery has a 500mAh on the labling but the analyzer states 350mAh, the battery can deliver 350milliamps for one hour. #2-condition. A battery state as previous is a poor condition, If the analyzer stated 475mAh this would be very good condtion. #3-discharge. Unit is currently being discharged to test the mAh capacity displaying the amps being drawn from the battery. 100mAh--95mAh--90mAh--ect.

battery not charging , means the charging system is not working , Doesn't mean the battery is bad . The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled , If the BCM doesn't see the correct voltage , it will raise the idle RPM to over come any load on the system . Probably has DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the BCM or PCM , These codes do not always turn on the money light ( check engine ) . Your best bet , take it to the Cadillac dealer , auto zone or any of those has no clue about this . Oh also it will shut down systems . http://www.esghotwire.com/0213_Pit.pdf

BATTERY NOT CHARGING - 7Charging System Indicators

BATTERY NOT CHARGING - 7
The IPC illuminates the BATTERY NOT CHARGING - 7 indicator in the DIC when the PCM detects a malfunction with the generator output. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination.

I work for Cadillac , have for over thirty year's . Have seen people mess this stuff up big time . So do yourself an take to one of my fellow tech's.

Electrical Load Management
The power management function is designed to monitor the vehicle electrical load and determine when the battery is potentially in a high discharge condition. This is accomplished by using a high accuracy battery voltage reading as an indicator of battery discharge rate. The following six levels of load management will execute in the load management control algorithm when there is a high discharge condition:
The first action requests a vehicle idle speed increase to the powertrain control module (PCM) in order to raise alternator output.
The second action requests a greater vehicle idle speed increase to the PCM in order to raise alternator output.
The third action begins to shed vehicle loads in an attempt to remedy the heavy discharge condition.
The fourth action requests another vehicle idle speed increase to the PCM in order to raise further the alternator output.
The fifth action begins to shed further vehicle loads in an attempt to remedy the heavy discharge condition.
If the above five corrective actions fail, the sixth action of power management further sheds loads in a final attempt to remedy the high discharge condition.
Loads subject to reduction include the following:
• The A/C clutch
• The heated mirrors
• The heated seats
• The rear defog
• The HVAC blowers
The power mode master (PMM) calculates the battery temperature, voltage and charging rate at all times while the engine is running. The PMM calculates the battery temperature by factoring in:

Taking Care Of Your Laptop Battery

  1. Normally, a new battery pack comes in a very low charge condition and must be fully charged before use. Refer to the user manual of your portable electronic equipment for charging instructions.
  2. A new Dell Vostro A860 Battery needs to be fully charged and fully discharged or “cycled” as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity.
  3. Your equipment may report a fully charge condition in as short as 10 to 15 minutes when the new Dell Vostro 1015 Battery is being charged for the first time. This is a normal phenomenon especially for Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) chemistries. When this happens, remove the dell vostro 1015 battery pack and let it cool down for about fifteen minutes then repeat the charging procedure.
  4. “Conditioning” (fully discharging and then fully charging) is necessary so as to maintain the optimum performance of a sony vgp-bps8 battery, and is recommended at least once a month particularly for Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries. Failure to do so could result in reduced charge capacity and can significantly shorten the sony vaio vgn-fz battery pack’s useful life. Lithium Ion batteries do not require conditioning.
  5. It is normal for a acer aspire 1410 battery pack to get warm when charging and during use. However, if the acer aspire 1410 battery pack gets excessive hot, there may be a problem with the portable electronic equipment’s charging circuit and should therefore be checked by a qualified technician.
  6. Rechargeable batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused for long periods of time. This is normal particularly in the case of Ni-MH and Li-Ion chemistries. For best results, always store a battery pack fully charged. It should be removed from the equipment and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.
  7. The amount of runtime a hp 510 battery produces depends on the power requirements of components in your electronic equipment. This could be the hard drive setting, screen intensity and back-lighting on notebook computers, the liquid crystal display (LCD) screen and floodlight feature in a video camcorder, or the tri-mode communications network of a cellular phone. Always refer to your equipment’s user manual for power management settings.

I have a 2000 Yamaha R1. I charged the battery and it held the charge overnight. The next day I rode about 50miles, stoped the bike and the battery was dead again. It my understanding there is no...

1. Depending on what you mean by holding the charge.
2. As far I can tell, your battery have enough power to start the bike once or twice but then the charge is gone meaning the battery still have poer but the cranking power is below the needed amount.
3. Try take the bike to a battery shop, have them check the battery condition and the same time how well your bike recharging system.
4. If your charging system is good then just replace the battery.
Cheers

I have a a Motorola WPLN4080BR battery conditioner - what i dont have is a user guide - I would like to no what i am looking for when i Analyze or condition a battery IE whats a good result ETC...

We have been unable to locate a user guide online. Here is the part number 6880309J85. It should be available for under $15 (US) from your local Motorola dealer.

Here is a brief description of some of the functions:
Cycle test sees how many charge cycles a battery has left in it. The average number of charge/discharge cycles of a new battery is: NiCd 500-700; NiMH 300-350; Li-Ion 400. (These are averages, batteries2_bing.gif will differ.) Analyze looks at the mAH capacity of the battery. With this number you can see what capacity the battery is still holding. (How much gas will fit in the gas tank.) You can improve this number often by running the conditioning cycle. These are better explained in the user manual which comes with the unit. Best regards.

How can I know that the Battery Maintenance System is charging.Does the battery voltage displays on the screen??

Hai dud,
A battery maintenance system for charging, analyzing, discharging and conditioning of a NiCad battery. The system displays voltage and capacity to determine whether or not a NiCad battery has enough capacity to power equipment for an optimal time period. The system charges the battery using a negative delta voltage method of detecting full charge, while also displaying instantaneous battery voltage. The system also analyzes the battery in a charge, discharge and recharge mode of operation, and during the charge mode the instantaneous voltage is displayed. The discharge mode discharges the battery to one volt per cell while displaying voltage and accumulative capacity alternately. The system also conditions batteries by cycling a battery through three cycles of charging, discharging and a subsequent recharge cycle.

Hope it Helped You!

Flashing red light on the Kensington wireless mouse base

I still have the manual for my mouse.  Model number 64321.
When this mouse was manufactured it used NiCad batteries which developed a memory much more than the newer batteries.  The older NiCad batteries needed to be conditioned occasionally so Kensington provided a way to do that with the charging base.
The red light is for indicating discharge status of NiCad batteries.
The red light will flash quickly when you press the battery discharge button on the bottom of the base.  This indicates that you now have 5 seconds to place the mouse in the charging base for battery discharge.
The red light will flash flash more slowly when the battery is being discharged.
After the battery is fully discharged, the base will then charge the batteries.
It should be noted that very few manufacturers of products that utilized NiCad batteries provided a "battery conditioning" feature.  Kensington was unique in this regard.  Battery conditioning allowed NiCad batteries to have a longer useful life.

Now maybe you can help me....  I lost my power supply that plugs into the USB connector.  If you have yours, can you tell me what the output voltage is and what the polarity is of the inner pin.  This will be marked right on the power supply base.
I plan to just get a generic power supply from Radio Shack, but I need the voltage value and polarity.  Until then, I can still use the mouse, but it won't charge.  FOr now, I'm just using standard AAA batteries.
Thanks.
