Reset button on ink cartridge to let you use the rest of the ink

I was told that when the printer tells you your cartridge is out of ink there is a reset button on the cartridge that can be pushed to allow you to use the rest of the ink in the cartridge. Is that true and where is this button? Thanks, Leilani

There is no reset button on the ink cartridges. You can try to get the rest of the ink to come out by taking the cartridge and shaking it.

SOURCE: ink system failure

NOT A SOLUTION, JUST SOME FACTS>
First of all, your printer is "NOT" the worst model ever made, every printer that hp (as you probably noted I used small letters hp because I think hp is a small worm of a co.) makes is a problem waiting to happen. The worst of it all is that the don't care about there customers. I have a almost $300.00
photosmart that is a few months out of warranty, even though it stayed new in the box for over 6 months because of a heart attack I had. I ran out of two of the colored Inks, but continued to use the printer for word documents only till shortly after, the printer said it was unable to print till the two empty colour cart. were replaced. I continued printing all other items on my up stairs computer. About a month later, I purchased the cart. needed, installed them in the photosmart,(which I think is a oxymoron) and the printer came up with,"Ink System Has Failed" Error code oxc18a0306.
I know this is getting long winded, but it's the only way to get my point across fully. I contacted hp and after over 40 min. they told me that the error code was fatal and could not be fixed!!!!! They said It was out of warranty and would not be replaced for any amount of money besides paying full price for a replacement. ( Ya Like I Would Buy Another hp product). I have since then had the printer checked out and a small pc board with, a valve or sensor for all the ink supplies is not letting the yellow ink out of the pump to the print head. I contacted again, like a fool, hp and was on the phone for another 52.min. till they told me that part was not available..... End of story
P.S.
I hope this story gets out to every person that had, or has a hp product and
had a problem that was not resolved by hp, besides telling the customer they will fix the problem by selling to you ,at full price another printer.....
I'm All For Boycotting hp!
P.P.S.
I hope this gets back to hp

SOURCE: Expired ink cartridge

You may be getting this error message due to the printer being able to tell that it is a non-hp cartridge. I don't know how it can tell, but mine says that too. I uninstalled the software and then reinstalled the software. And then I took out the cartridge and put it back in. See if this works for you.

SOURCE: 8250 HP INK EXPIRED MESSAGE

I had same problem, and i solved it.
I opened my hp 8250 and removed it`s battery. It is located on left side of the printer, on the main board. You need to remove plastic covers , and then remove 3 screws holding board. You can move board just enough to get damn battery out of there. Now it works perfect!
I can send you some piccs if you need help.

If it is an HP or Brother the printer will only work with full cartridges both color and black. You must have ink in all cartridges

How to reset canon mp480 ink level

you don't have to reset the ink level counter if you dont want to it is not necessary for this model, i have one myself i do my own ink and i never rest the ink level. After changing the ink cartridges or refilling whatever you choose (i refill mine and get 9 refills from every cartridge!) when you close the lid and let it reset, it will tell you a new cartridge is in, or you may get an orangy or red error, just press and hold stop on the actual keypad on the printer under the lcd screen until error goes. Now you are good to print, but your printer levels are not usable that's all. Its a quick fix and you can just do it every time, no fuss.

How do i rest my cannon pixma mp 220

I would imagine the error message is asking you to hold down the reset button of your printer for 5 seconds due to a low ink estimate with these refilled cartridges. If this is the case the STOP/RESET/RESUME button is represented by an upside-down triangle in a circle and is normally red or grey.

More information on this error message can be found here.

Hope this helps.

Canon Printer MX410 will not print after reloading ink cartridge

PG510 and CL511 cartridges have a memory chip which records the number of pixels printed to give an approximate ink level so it won't know if you have added more ink. These levels cannot be re-set. The error message on computer screen should give instructions to continue printing with an "empty" cartridge which normally involve holding the Stop/Reset button on the printer for more than 5 seconds whilst the message is still on the PC screen. You may have to do this once for each of the 2 cartridges.

My printer said the waste ink absorber is full and need to be replace with a new one. where actually is the waste absorber and how i can replace in by my own?

The waste ink absorber is at where the cartridge rests. When you turn off the printer. Its a sponge pad assembly, which soaks the waste/extra ink from the cartridge while printing. When this pad is full of ink and it cannot soak more ink this waste ink absorber replacing indication comes up.To replace this the top portion of your printer needs to be removed. Its fitted with screws. Once the top is out you can replace the sponge pad by removing the cartridge resting mechanism. This sponge pad is stuck -up by double tape, you will need to pull that up slowly towards you and reinsert new pad in same manner as the old was placed. ------------------------ But there is also a reset procedure to be tried to clear the waste ink absorber error.Try this reset procedure couple of times and see.If this error goes away you can use your printer without replacing the pad. The procedure is as follows:---- 1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)note: press 4 times for waste ink counter reset. In your case.-------------------

The number of the Reset.
button pressing.
LED Function Remarks.
0 time Green Power off.

1 time Orange Service pattern print.
2 times Green EEPROM print.
3 times Orange EEPROM reset.
4 times Green Waste ink counter reset.
5) Turn off the printer.( it must be turn off)
then turn it on again.
After you press Stop/Reset button 4 times the waste ink counter gets reset after that turn off the printer and turn it on.And then see.If the error is gone you can continue using your printer.Take care you read the instructions properly. If you forget any step by mistake, start with step1 again,.-------------------- In most of the cases this reset helps.Try it good luck.Thank you.

I just installed a Lexmark 2500. It came with an ink cartridge (color) I purchased a black cartridge and installed it but it does not seem to be working. How do you darken the ink on this printer. It seems...

Maybe you can try to rest the black ink level 1st. To reset the ink level:
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application.
2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own.
Hope this help.
