Question about RCA P52926 52" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Older 52 inch RCA rear projection will not turn on (not HD)

This RCA model is from 1994 and I have been the original owner. The picture is still great and sound buzzes a little. I still enjoy it and would like to keep it going if possible and within reason to repair. While watching TV one evening, it just made a "pop" sound and shut off. Has not turned on since. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like your color guns are out of alignment and need adjusting. its a cheap fix with a tv tech but i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself. plus, a visit from a tech can tell you if there is anything else wrong/about to b wrong

Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...

It seems that you have either a defective lamp or ballast, i recommend that you replace the lamp first, if it doesn't work it means that it's most probable that your ballast doesn't have enought voltage to keep up with your lamp. I recommend you get a Philips lamp since it's going to give you a brighter image and also it has a longer life spand 6-8 thousand hours, on the other hand, the generic lamps last 3-6 thousand hours and the image is not that bright, so if you're looking for quality get the Philips.
