Nope, on this camera it is the opposite way for the video so it isn't a problem

  • thejackson4 May 16, 2009

okay, what is a "power cycle"? I did upgrade the "firmware" but that didn't help

  • thejackson4 May 16, 2009

    nope, still black!

  • thejackson4 May 17, 2009

when the camera is first turned on, the regular screen that always came up still comes up, there is a green light by the small viewfinder, a green light by the dial where you turn the camera on. On the black screen (that used to be the picture you were about to take) along the top is the "i", then and eye picture, 3 stars and the number of pictures left to take.
In the middle of the screen is [ ], and at the bottom is a graphic of a camera

1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.

2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.

3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck

My C180 easy share won't turn on.

Kodak's advice is disinformation & damage control: this is actually a product defect--it's a firmware bug that affects most Kodak Easyshare cameras, but Kodak will probably never admit it. The problem usually starts after you change the batteries or connect the camera to the computer. Google for "Kodak easyshare wont turn on" - there are more than 8,000,000 results. Just returned my new camera to the store because it locks up every time I change the card or transfer pictures via the USB port. Thought I was getting a good deal, but now I know why this was the cheapest camera they sold. What a waste of my time & money. So it's usually NOT the batteries fault--the real problem here is Kodak's low quality engineering.

When I turn it on, the light is red, not green, the lcd screen is black, and it won't take a picture.

Here are the steps for the no power problem: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty)

Lifeless Camera

I wish I shared you easy solution feeling. Try a few things Take battery out and clean the contacts at the base of the chamber with a pencil eraser. Ditto on the chamber door. If nothing happens try charging the battery in another charger or another battery. Still dead? Kodak support is the next stop
