If you remove the plug(s) so that the oil all drains back down, and some will drain back out of the muffler, it should start. But give a at least one day, maybe two. You may still have to put new plug(s) in it after it's gone. Check the fuel filter and see if you can see oil in it.

Take off the air cleaner when you get ready to start it and spray just a little starting fluid in the carb, Don't choke it. It will run rough and smoke like crazy, but after it runs a while it should be fine. It make take a few starts before it continues to run. At first it may run just on the starting fluid, but once the plugs fire up enough to burn the oil out it should run on its own.

Be sure and check the oil and if it seems like the slightest amount of gas in it, change the oil and filter.

Let us know how it comes out!

It may not have one. Some newer models you can only suck the oil or tip the mower after removing gas on its' side.

I have recently bought a poluan pro mower. It has been spitting oil in filter and blowing out white smoke from muffler.

sounds like it is overfilled with oil remove oil fill to level line for motor but white smoke means its getting to much gas or is this two cycle engine wich would mean you mixed oil and gas wrong and to make another batch

What I would do in this case is to run the engine to get the oil warm and to help remove any buildup from the bottom of the oil pan. Then tip the engine over until the oil level check is right above the container that you drain the oil into. Then take out the dipstick and let the oil drain out that way.

Turned mower on its side and changed the blade and now the pull rope is very hard to pull..its almost like the motor is locked up..I checked the shut off linkage cable, removed the spark plug, removed the...

Your piston cylinder is partially full of oil and/or gas. Take the spark plug out and pull the rope four or five times to blow everything out of the cylinder. If it's still hard to pull over with the plug out check the oil level in the crank case to see if it filled with gas while the mower was on its side. Make sure the plug is dry and clean and reinstall it. When it starts it's going to smoke a lot until it cleans out the cylinder.

I have a riding lawn mower & need to check underneath to see if the drive belt is broken but I've been told that if you tip the mower up it will blow the motor that true?

No, but it's better to lift the mower up than tip it over because the gas will leak out and cause a serious fire hazard. But if you can empty the gas first, then no problem. Also, you might get a little oil leaking from the filler cap, but you can tie a rag around it to minimize the mess, and don't leave it tipped over for days. Once you put it back down, give the oil 30 minutes to run down where it should be, and no problem. Thanks for using FixYa, and good luck

Make sure the engine is not overfilled with oil most of the small rotary mower engines hold about 20 oz of oil.It will push oil out of the breather is the oil level is too high or if the mower was tipped on its side. Also check the air filter to make sure the oil did not saturate it.Once you correct the problem the smoke should clear up.

Oil leaking from air filter area of push mower and mower smoking

You have overfilled the oil tank. White smoke is only a hassle, not a serious problem. You have to empty some of the oil and change the gas. Clean the air filter if it is the spongy type with Dawn Dishwashing Liquid, rinsing and drying it well before reinstalling. The white smoke will stop soon as it is still in the gas that is in the carb. If the case is that you haven't filled it with oil prior to this smoke then you must be mowing on a hillside and the gas tank was on the lower side allowing oil to leak into the gas. Same solution.

Gas/ oil mixture

If it is a riding lawn mower it is probably not a two cycle engine so there would not be a gas oil mixture. It must be a 5 horse power or higher so it would use straight gas. I hope this will help you. donnyb60
