How do you take the front panel off where the ice dispenser is?

I have this Kitchen Aide refrig and am wanting to know how to get the front of the freezer door apart without damaging the panel?
My water dispenser quit working and I checked the voltage at the watervalve from the water dispenser and did not get 120 volts when the arm was pushed. So I need to check the switch.

Try to open the fridge door.. usually. you can find screws underneath the rubber seal (the rubber part with all the magnets). I have checked my fridge and found screws underneath the rubber seal. well, hopefully your fridge door was not assembled using rivets. I hope you get your fridge fixed. Have a great day sir.

Hi,

Please find the steps of removing the freezer door:

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall. Unplug the power cord. Look above the freezer door on the top of the refrigerator. Remove the two metal hinge screws from the freezer door on the hinged side of the door.

  • Step 2 Unscrew the hinge at the top of the refrigerator door. Install it in the same place at the other side of the door. You are just switching the hinges to hang the door on the other side. Look for the holes that are already there for this purpose. Remove the top hinge plate.
  • Step 3 Re-install the two screws in the holes on the top of the fridge. Look on the top outer edge of the handle side of the door to find a small plug. Use a screwdriver to pry it out. Place it in the hole where the original hinge plate was removed. Lift the freezer door off the base and set it aside.
  • Step 4How do you take the front panel off where the ice - 96448_thumb.jpg Look on the bottom of the fridge door on the hinge side for the bracket with the two screws in the fridge frame. It will be the same color as the fridge. Remove the two screws, causing the fridge door to drop. Place the door to the side. It may be easier to have a second person in this step to catch the fridge. Replace the two screws in the fridge frame.
  • Step 5 Remove the center hinge bracket with the screwdriver (set between the fridge and freezer door). Put the screws back into the frame. Remove the two screws from the frame on the handle side of the fridge. Remove the first screw from the outer edge between the fridge and freezer.
  • Step 6 Flip the originally removed center bracket upside down. Attach it with the removed screws. On the bottom fridge door, pry out the pivot pin. Remove the small screw from the bracket. Attach the pivot pin bracket and pin back onto the opposite side of the door.
  • Step 7 On the old hinge side of the door, find the small plug on the face of the fridge door. Pry it out. You will see another plate or plug in the same area. Pry this out as well with a screwdriver and remove the screw under it. Remove the two screws on top of the fridge door that support the handle. Remove the handle and replace the screws. Replace the handle on the opposite side.
  • Step 8 Remove the two screws on the bottom fridge frame, and remount the fridge door. Remove the screws from the top and bottom of the freezer door handle and remount on opposite side. Remove the pivot pin plate from the old hinge side of the freezer door and re-attach the freezer door handle on the new side.
  • Step 9 Remove the two screws from the top of the fridge on the old handle side. Place the freezer door back on the center pivot. Re-mount the top hinge bracket.

    Thank You

Flashing red light on ice maker control

    Hi

I have Kitchen Aide refrig. Resently, we had a power surge which seems to have done something to the ice maker control. immediately after it stopped making ice. It has since started to make ice but very slowly. Before the controller blinking red light blinked and paused steady. Now, it blinks two red and pause steady. Is this repairable?

    Thanks

Ice dispenser paddle hard to push

I know it's been a whle, but I recently had hensame problem. Unable to find an answer I decided to pull it apart. After removing the water/ice dispenser panel I noticed there was a spring loaded rod which held the ice flap in position. The rod had worked itself loose from one end and was causing the problem. I realigned the rod with the hole in the bracket and gently tapped it back into place. After re installing the panel everything was back to normal. You can find some decent tear down videos on Youtube explaining the panel removal. Hope this helps if anyone else runs into this problem. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=0Tmpt63T79M&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D0Tmpt63T79M

Kitchen refrig will not dispense ice or water

IF anything went bad it would be the water valve but is shouldnt have failed just because you didnt turn the water on.Just for grins, unplug the wires to teh water valve and plug them back in to make sure you have a good connection. Then unplug the fridge for a minute and make sure the water is on , and plug the fridge back in.Your solenoid may be stuck.THese are just things I would try..I'm mechanically inclined but am not a appliance repairman.
