I have a FUNAI SV2000 4 head VHS/DVD recorder player, when I put in a vsh tape the roller guide assembly will take the tape up to the video drum, (I have the cover off) and almost always it will eject the tape, but the vhs tape that was against the drum is not rewound, and I have to pull it out, a few tapes can be inserted and I can play or record but when I hit the stop button I get the same results. Hi,

To be really honest, It's a software issue. These machine works on the instructions given by the motherboard.

In your case, it's defective motherboard. When you open you DVD player, you would see a board that consist of many IC's and LED's. You need to repair that.To be frank, you need to replace that. There might be millions of reasons for this error, until and unless you check all the connections and LED's, it not possible to catch the culprit.

Or you need to change the motherboard, which is not advisable as :-

1. Its not easy to get the same motherboard. Even if you will get, who would guarantee that it would work for long time.

2. DVD players are so cheap now a days, that people forgot to repair them. A new one, would be atleast trouble free for atleast couple of years and so.

Rest, decision is yours.

Any further help, let me know.

Check the roller guides and the drum. Make sure there is nothing caught in them. Make sure that they are well lubricated and then make sure they are not covered in dust. Then try the machine again.

How do I record from the VCR to the DVD?

Do you have your owner's manual? If not:
FUNAI 2014

It talks about the types of CD's/DVD's you can use and which modes to have it set to, restrictions and so on. Then troubleshooting starts on Page 84 of the .pdf file.

I hope this helps.

Went i put a tapes my vhs it just eating the tape up and it cuts off

You need to purchase a VHS head cleaner or clean the heads and pinch rollers by hand. remove cover and lid to drive system. you will see all the tape guides, rollers and heads. use Q-tips and denatured alcohol and clean every thing the tape touches. swap q-tips as they get dirty.

Can I copy a vsh tape to a dvd with this one player

You can't. It's designed to copy DVD to tape. You might want to invest in a little device: Audio Video USB adapter convert VHS tape to PC, CD, DVD. About $20.00 or less.

Recording from VHS to DVDR was going fine, then I stopped getting a picture. DVD player is fine plays back recordings etc. However tape player starts to play shows picture then stops showing video and...

Possibly dirty video heads. I would suggest that you run a head-cleaning tape through the VCR deck to shift surface dirt off the heads. If that doesn't work, or it sort of works, but not satisfactorily, unplug unit, carefully remove top cover, and with the VCR deck in view, gently clean the heads with a soft cloth or special cleaning stick (these look like flat q-tips but are intended for VCRs - available from electronics/hobby stores) and some alcohol (methylated spirit will work if that's all you got - but isopropyl alcohol is recommended - available from the same places as the sticks) clean the guides (gently so as not to disturb their alignment) clean the pinch roller/capstan shaft - CTL (on the right-hand side of the drum) and FE (left side) heads as well. The whole tape path should be carefully cleaned. Refit top cover (carefully), plug unit back into power, wait until it completes its startup/loading procedure, then put a tape in. You should now have a playback picture with the sound. You only need to do this as required if head-cleaning cassettes don't work properly.

If none of the above cures your problem, then the heads are abraded/worn - let's hope that isn't the case here. This model does not use a built-in head cleaner.

How many motors are in the VCR section? example 1 motor for play, 1 motor for hi-speed rewind, 1 motor for hi-speed forward.

There are only 2 motors on the VCR sections.1 motor for the rewind backward and speed foward.1 motor for take in the VHS tape and eject the tape. The play button also used the same rewind backward and speed forward motor to push the film foward to the VCR play head head drums to play the tape.

Have a Magnavox MWR20V6 - have a few things going on, one the power shutting off automatically when i put the vcr on timer and therefore does not record, and 2 vhs tapes that are almost new, gets stuck

Junk it. It's identical to Funai WV20V6. I can't remember exactly what is causing the shutdown. But, I do remember that it says it can't be fixed. Read other posts here at Fixya.

Copy Audio Cd into DVD

Best guess...put audio cd into DVD side, Video tape into VHS side. Set the VHS to record in SP, Then record the cd to vhs. then when you are done recording on the vhs, put a blank DVD in the recorder side, and press dubb to DVD to get it to record from vhs to Dvd.

Flicker on playback

Could be tracking, dirty / faulty heads, or mis-alligned guide rollers.

First, adjust the tracking on the player during playback. This is done by pressing P+ or P- on the remote control.

If this doesn't work, use a video head cleaner. This consists of a video cassette and fluid. Follow the instructions with the cleaner.

If this still doesn't help, and you are confident in opening up the VR550, you could cleaner the heads manually.

Disconnect from the mains.

Remove the screws from the back and sides of the VCR.
Gently ease the lid off the machine.
Locate the large silver coloured head drum towards the back of the machine. There are four small receptors around the side of the drum. These are the video heads.
Take a small piece of clean white paper about 1.5 inches square. (Copier paper)
Hold the paper square over 1 finger and rub each head in turn. Keep the head near the centre of the paper so as not to catch the heads with the edges of the paper.
Check the paper for dirt from the heads.
Reconnect the player and try a tape. If the problem is still there, try cleaning again.

If none of this works, insert a tape NOT recorded on this machine (Mis-alligned rollers affect recording as well as playback) and play. Locate the rollers which guide the tape around the mechanism. Particulary either side of the head drum.

The rollers have adjustments on the top, which can be turned to move the guide up and down slightly. This is a fiddly job, and over adjustment could cause the tape edge to be damaged.
Adjust the rollers to get a clear picture. It is mainly trial and error.

If all fails then the video is probably destined for the skip.

If you need a replacement, www.cheapestelectrical.co.uk , will sell you a VR550 at a very good price.
