Prints magenta line slightly off center on everything

My printer recently began printing a magenta line slightly left of center on everything I print.

I've done the self-cleaning mode, changed magenta cartridges, etc.

Re: prints magenta line slightly off center on everything

Try a printer calibration.

If this doesn't work than comment again. I have one of these printers at work and I can do more to help tomorrow.

Recently replaced the magenta cartridge and it was printing everything in pink tones (but the magenta still registers full). Just replaced light cyan cartridge and now its not printing full lines of text...

I'm not really sure, but if I were you, Id work with all the cartridges. Moisten a lintless soft paper or tissue and gently wipe printhead of each cartridge. Be sure you 'seat" them carefully and securely. I think one or more cartridges is empty OR dry. See if this helps a bit.

Failure to print from computer in colour

I have a similiar issue that just started happening recently - the printer shows FULL inks but the PC thinks it has empty inks. I tried the * #, 123 reset hardware failures, but that didnt help. Printer run self diagnostics says all is fine....

I am using USB connections - and this has been fine for years, until now. Maybe a microsoft patch issue?

If your color improved slightly when running the printhead option then doing more should help get better results. Sometime the printheads get really dirty/clogged and running the cleaning option more then once is needed.

If you get a slight line running across the page (from left to right) usually the indicates dust build up on the printhead or ink carriage. The dust acts as a paint brush being dragged across your paper as the carriage moves across the page during printing. You can clean the bottom of the carriage with a Q-tip or purchase some cleaning paper for your printer.

Light or Faded Areas in Solid Color Prints

If the issue is occuring in the same place on all prints, try the imaging drum (can't remember if this printer even uses one) or the transfer belt/roller (not sure which it uses). If you phone Dell support, they should run you through troubleshooting and send you either of those parts free of charge if you are under warranty. If not, buy them anyways; they don't degrade over time (if kept in the dark) and can be saved for when the currently installed one runs out if you don't need it to fix this issue.

Yellow line

This sounds like there is a scratch in the yellow fuser roller... replace the imaging drum.
