Is suspected your device driver is not properly installed.

Re-install the device driver, update the bios, re-start your machine and check.

Make sure that your firewall program is not blocking the installation. If that is not it, try a different usb cable.

My Dell vostro 1710 usb slots are not working

Hi there.
It sounds like the bios may have become corrupt knocking them and the WiFi out.
Go here to dell support and download the bios (it has to be on the machine that's faulty) make sure the laptop is plugged in to the mains power when you update the bios >>>>>>>>

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=BIOSA&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=VOS_N_1710&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

Hopefully the USB's and the WiFi will come back to life again.
Please post back if you need anymore help or advice or if the bios update does not reactivate them.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

USB devices not always working on Gateway 507GR

Truthfully, I've found this to be true about most USB ports -- when more than two devices are installed. I'm not sure there is a real fix for the issue. It's kinda like wifi. It works and it works good, BUT it's not 100% (all the time). It's just the nature of the technology.
