Question about Kenmore 21.7 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice & Water with Water Filtration 4659267

Open Question

My Kenmore Coldspot refrigerator is making a loud grinding noise every 15 to 30 minutes and last for about 5 to 10 seconds each time. I tried depressing the water dispenser and when I depress the water dispenser the grinding noise is heard for the duration that I depress the water dispenser. What can the grinding noise be caused by and how can I fix it?

SOURCE: My Kenmore Refrigerator makes ice but will not

Hi

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve

Please accept this solution and ask for any further assistance.

Thanks

SOURCE: whirlpool refrigerator ice dispenser no longer workds

Ok, I show parts that are available for that model, sounds like the control board is defective for your dispenser, or possibly the Ice maker control board. It also could be a break in the wiring or the control itself. Below is a break down for those parts, wiring and the control behind the push to dispense ice or water. Hope it is not that control because some places don't provide that part. Now if it's a connection problem that we can find, I will do mu best to help you solve this.Could you insure the model number is correct as this is very important? appliancepartsse@yahoo.com

SOURCE: ice maker dispenses cruched ice in cube ice mode

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid.
With your model number I can find a diagram which may help.

I have a Kenmore Coldspot model 106. When the motor kicks on, there is an extremely loud a knocking noise which continues until the motor stops. What is the problem? Can I fix it without buying parts?

the compressor has a spring loaded base that with time wears out and will make a knocking noise when starting or especially when turning off. some Tecs say its not much to worry bout other then the noise not sure where I stand on that issue though.

My refrigerator is making a very loud noise

Hello Ann;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

It is hard for me to tell you what the problem is without knowing where the noise is coming from.

Ok, If:

1.) the noise is a loud clanking sound in the lower back, it is the valves in your compressor. This is bad.

2.) If the noise is a clinging sound in the lower back, it is your condenser fan blade hitting the fan frame. This is easily fixed.

3.) If the noise is coming from the back of your freezer, your freezer fan is hitting ice. You may need a defrost heater, or a defrost timer.

My Kenmore Coldspot Mod 106.9651810 refrigerator start a loud buzzing noise.

Hi,

Sounds like your relay to your compressor has failed, but before you start buying parts has your unit failed to cool? If so you may want to look into the overload to the compressor. If this has failed the unit will fail to cool. If not the issue please get me more information as to status, temperatures etc..

Thanks in advance, good luck

no theres not any fire danger,it may just be the fan blades hitting ice build up due to defrost issues you will need to remove the rear inner wall in the freezer to see exactly what it is

check te rubber mounts at the bottom of the compressor
the rubber rots after some time and the compressor moves on shutting down as the knocking could be that noise

Kenmore Coldspot freezer is buzzing loudly

See if pressing on the back panal makes a difference and see if anything is putting pressure on the panel. If its vibration it is trial and error to get it positioned to quiet it down. If it is the bearing replacement is the cure.

Frig makes a very loud booming noise/ratteling what is the cause?

The noise is coming from the compressor and is a result of a broken support spring inside the compressor. When the unit shuts down, the inner casing rattles against the outer casing because the spring is not there to keep them apart. The only fix is to replace the compressor but otherwise it is just bothersome.
