You need to give more information about the problem you are having and the repairs you completed. Did you replace the computer power supply or the monitor power supply. Do you have a crt monitor of a lcd monitor. What problem where you having that prompted you to do this repair. Give model numbers of the monitor and power supply that you replaced. Was you problem that the computer would not work, or is it the monitor that does not work. How do you know for sure you are having a problem with the monitor. Have you teated it on another unit to make sure the monitor is bad. Have you tested all the cables to make sure they are good and working fine in the monitor. Try testing, the monitor and cables on another computer just to make sure of the problem.

Could be that you need the disc to start up your new monitor to get it to reconize on your system - It is just like setting up a new mouse, they always come with a disc.. If you have another monitor hook it up and go to the manufactures website and download their driver. This should fix your problem

My hp pavillion 503n has a amber light in front...power supply fan comes on but doesnt power up

This could still be a power supply issue. You can buy a power supply tester. This will tell you if the power supply is putting out power to all of the cables.
The other cause of this issue could be a motherboard issue. HP would have to replace the motherboard. A lot of the time HP make their mother boards to fit only their cases. This makes it hard to place a non HP board into a HP case.

What would cause monitor to show white screen when pc is booted up?

Will the monitor go into it's own config screen ? If not, it could be defective. You said it displayed a white screen so it is not likely that the brightness control is turned way down.

Check that the monitor is connected correctly to the system. Try another monitor that is known to be good. Does the monitor work on another system, say a laptop or another desktop?

Windows will boot up without a monitor and if you are running any servers on it, you can try to connect over your LAN. If the computer takes it's IP address from a local router, you can check the router status screens to see if the address is in use. That would prove Windows is running and that the monitor could be the problem.

Used monitors are not expensive these days so they are easy to replace. You should have multiple monitors anyway. This is the 21st century, not the twentieth when screen size revealed your pay grade in the organization.

HP pavillion a6300f pc when powered on, the fans come on and can feel the hard drive spinning, however there is no video output; I took the pavillion to another pc monitor and same result, no video output....

Hi,
If it shows the bios on your screen.... Try to go the bios setting and make check the "default operation" and save upon exit.
Check the Motherboard, if there are swollen/bulging capacitor on the board, replace it.
If there are no bios whatsoever, sad to say, problem will be the board already......usually the bios chip that breaks down.
Try to use another power supply, sometimes the power supply is the culprit of the boards problem.
Hope that helps you out!

HP Pavilion 523n will not turn on

have you added any hardware recently or opened the case for any reason?  the power supply is often the first thing to go on computers.  if it is still under warranty, you might need to send it off.
if you want to try it yourself, i'd say open your case and make sure the power cable to the motherboard is connected securely (there should be a 20 pin connector and possibly a separate 4 pin connector).  of course, make sure the power chord is connected securly to the back of the computer.  make sure the psu is on 115 instead of 220 (unless you need 220).
good luck!

Monitor won't come on right away

Sounds like the CRT is starting to go bad cause its taking longer and longer for it to boot up. CRT's aren't available now so a new monitor would be the only option.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MY PC AS WELL..... I HAVE THE SAME ONE. WHEN YOU USE HIGH CPU APPLICATIONS, YOUR FAN ACCUMULATES LOTS OF DUST IN IT, WHEN THE FAN GETS BLOCKED UP, YOUR PROCESSER DOESNT COOL DOWN, TRY TAKING THE FAN OUT AND THE METAL PART, AND CLEANING IT OUT, BUT DONT TAKE OFF THE WHITE PASTE... JUST TAKE OFF THE DUST FROM THE FAN, THAT SHOULD COOL DOWN YOUR PC AND IT SHOULD STOP RUNNING AT HIGH RPM'S.. FYI... THE FAN IS ALWAYS RUNNING
