I'm using a Dell 2161DS KVM. One server is a Sun

I'm using a Dell 2161DS KVM. One server is a Sun UltraSparc 60 connected to the KVM with a Raritan Guardian. While working in an xterm, I hit ctrl-ins (ins on the numeric keypad). This seems to be some type of hot-key because it started ''apkmsun/apssun key definition setup'' in the xterm. It looks like a script, but the text it sent to the window was interpreted as commands. I was typing before I noticed I was in a script and remapped my ''r'', ''z'', ''c'' keys. While troubleshooting, I hit the hot hey again and it said I have 3 keys redefined. The instrucions in the text say press a key then use arrows to define the key, but as I said, the ksh xterm doesn't interpret the script well. I hit escape to exit the script. I can't find any manual or docs for this. Since I'm blind to the script in the xterm, I need to find out how to set it back to the default. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: Hotkeys for D-Link DKVM-2

In my case, it is <Scroll Lock>, <Scroll Lock>, <1> or <2>
And NOT F1 or F2 as the previous writer suggests.
Good Luck,

SOURCE: KVM hotkey

Hold down the Scroll Lock key for several seconds. The switch should beep briefly and blink. Hit either the "1" or "2" key on your keyboard to switch to the corresponding computer connection.

They should work, but I would use the PS2 connectors to be sure.

Raritan SW2USB. Has been working for several years. Today started normally, but suddenly the keyboard was not visible to the switch or either computer. Checked cables, rebooted, etc. Bought a new keyboard...

It sounds like the main switching IC on the board has gone bad...seen it happen before.

Your best bet is to replace it, I would check on Ebay for a good replacement a little cheaper than retail

I have a HP eo1010 kvm switch, how do I go about switching from server to server on it?

By default to bring up the On Screen Display press:

CTRL + CTRL

If you flash the firmware to the latest, you can change that key sequence for the OSD to either PrintScrn, CTRL+CTRL or SHIFT + SHIFT.

UMT242/USTIP2 not accepting remote clients, local only

I do not know this particular IP KVM but most IP KVM's use SIPPs that must be updated on the KVM when they are attached to the servers. Look for an option in the admin tools that say update SIPPs or update connection. You may also just have to double click on the list of connections to get it to update. This may have to be done at the console and not via remote.

Dell kvm switch

I've had that happen when I've added some newer rev SIPs. The newer ones come with a notice to load the 2161DS with versions 2.0.13 or newer firmware; by unplugging the new SIPs and leaving just the older ones (and I'm at a loss as to the exact revisions) I got back the OSCAR prompts. Plug the SIPs back in one at a time, and they would display, but once the session timed out, the key sequence would do nothing once again. Don't know if this is what you have, but I do know that certain SIPs can interact with your firmware to cause this symptom - my bigger problem now, is that when I try to update with the newer firmware (d2_0_13_english.fl) I get a message: "Unable to upgrade the firmware. Reason: Incompatible file."

USB mouse not recognized

I have similar problem. 2 inland KVM's (both have PS2 inputs, one has USB outputs) do not light or recognize my usb mouse with a PS2 adapter. They do recognize a PS2 ball mouse on the KVM's however. One of the computers (Sony vaio 1.5 GHz) does recognize a usb mouse with adapter on 2 other KVM's (Old Belkin and a Trendnet) (the second computer I have not tried in those configurations). Next I will try an optical mouse with a PS2 fitting. That did work with a fifth KVM at an auto business last week.
