Stopping Domain Users from copying, saving and relocating files from their Shared Locations

No way within standard access methods provided by File System. If the user have a 'read' access he has a right to 'copy' it. If the user has a right to 'edit' he has a right to 'update'. There's a limitation on 'delete' - within it the user will have a 'full' access. You can add more granular security by using DRM systems - either from Oracle or from MS.

From cro34624

Well heres a much easier answer if you have the Vista DVD or if you can borrow 1. Boot the computer from the DVD and select the upgrade option. Will take a little while to reinstall but none of your programs or documents will be touched. Only thing which will be totally lost is all the updates which is a good thing in your case. After then you can try doing the updates again. As you may have heard Vista does have a lot of bugs. If this all still fails on updates either reinstall and forget updates or do as i did go and buy a Windows 7 operating system its great. ,...Cheers from Scott

Windows error 646 cannot update windows norton live the same windows vista

The Error Code 646 can occur if the Windows Update Agent Wups2.dll file is registered incorrectly in the Operating System registry. So when you try to install a Windows Update, because the registry files that correspond to the Wups2.dll file are missing, the update installation fails.

Follow these steps to properly register the Windows Update files and resolve the issue:

1. Click the Start button, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Notepad.

2. In the Untitled - Notepad window, either copy and paste or manually type the following commands into the text field:

3. On the menu bar, click File.

4. In the File menu, click Save As.

5. In the Save As window, in the File name field, type Register.bat.

6. In the Save as type field, click the down arrow and click to select All Files (*.*).

7. Click the Browse Folders button.

8. Browse to the Desktop folder, and then click the Save button.

9. In the Register.bat - Notepad window, click the X in the upper-right corner to close the window.

10. On the Desktop, right-click the Register.bat file, and then click "Run As Administrator".

NOTE: If prompted for an Administrator password or a User Account Control prompt is displayed, type the appropriate password, click Continue or click Yes.

11. Once the Register.bat file has run, click the Start button, click All Programs, then click Windows Update and try to install updates again.

12. NOTE: If the updates still fail to install properly, it may be necessary update the version of the Windows Update Agent software installed on the Computer.

Follow the steps in Microsoft KB Article ID 949104 to download and install the latest version of the Windows Update Agent software.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

I dont have the code of my windows xp updater do i get it

You would have to contact MicroSoft and pay for a new license( usually at full price) or go to your local WalMart and purchase a new copy of Win XP Upgrade. The new disc from WalMart should come with the newest service pack (3) which will save a ton of time and your gauranteed Genuine Windows.

Windows XP-no sound, no internet explorer, no system restore...

If you have access to another internet connected computer, go to and download their free Anti-Malware software. Save it to some folder, call it export, for example.
Go to and download the free ATF cleaner and save it to the same folder.
Go to this link and download Hijack this and save it to the same folder.
Write these three files onto a cd.
Install them onto your computer, and without rebooting, run a scan of your system with MBAM. Fix any problems it detects. Run the ATF cleaner to clean out your temp files and browser cache.
Then see if you can update the MBAM software.
If you can go online, immediately go to windows update and apply all critical and security updates for your system that it offers.
Update your Antivirus software. If you don't have AV, download and install Avira AntiVir free from here, & update the definitions.
Now reboot your computer and run a complete scan with your updated antivirus software. Let it fix any problems it detects.
If you're still having problems, run a scan with Hijack This. Don't fix anything, just save a logfile and report back with the results...
Also please consult this valuable link.
I hope this information allow you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please reply with a comment to this thread.
