If you remove the coil from the rev valve it will burn out the coil. So do not do this. Now if the charge is low (static charge to me means at rest or at start up with no load) the rev valve cannot reverse its self. It has to have enough refrigerant to make the reversing valve switch possession

By by pass mode do you mean in the heating mode?.

If this has helped you any please rate me as high as you can if you need more information please post and I'll try answer more, but give me as much information as you can. type of refrigerant, both fans operational, clean filters, all ducts open, what kind of heating electric or gas, your locality : coastal, inland, humidity....

Oh yes the compressor and other motors have to be running before it will reverse also. I didn't know if you knew this or not. Just sitting the only thing that will happen ( assuming it is working properly) is the coil on the rev valve will energize and that's it. At least on all the standard made heat pumps that are modern. In older models the reversing valve operated in the heating mode on some manufactured. I believe all now operate in the cooling mode.

My gree mini split 2400 heat pump air conditioner does not turn off at the set temperture when cooling

I am not sure about your specific model. However most A/C units I have worked with have a fan switch. The switch allows you to choose to have the fan on all the time or only when the unit is cooling. Some of these switches are behind the front panel, behind the panel or out in the open it should be close to the other controls. Hope this was helpful.

Senville mini split displays a "defrost" symbol????

It's a heat pump and that is how they work. But it shouldn't be cycling so much unless you live in Minnesota? The colder it is outside the more chance that the outside coil will freeze so it will go into defrost. It may be low on charge or have leak as well. Call a tech to verify.

I have a LG minisplit (indoor unit LSN122HE /outdoor unit is LSU122HE) it cools great dehumidifies also and has for 3 months of summer. However its cold now and it will not heat. It runs for a min out

That's an inverter series motors... the outdoor fan motor is on an ambient controller to maintain pressures when cold outside in air conditioning mode, but not in heat...only defrost when needed. Check the settings on the outdoor board for defrost timing
