Looking at the picture of your M/B, http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/222667570/motherboard_P4M266_A_.html, your right there are only 2 RAM slots. However, if you have any devices, such as flash memory sticks, plugged into a USB port your computer maybe recognizing them as extra memory and using them as storage devices.

How to scan memory card?

Try connecting your phone to the computer via usb cable if your phone is capable of that and click your phone icon once it appear on the computer and left click on your phone and look for scan on the menu. Then your phone will be scanned. The other way is by taking off your memory card out in your phone and inserting it to a laptop and scanning it manually. Usually a micro sd are the memory cards thats being used on phones so you should have an adaptor for you to be able to insert it into your laptops SD card slot.Hope this helped you in anyway..have a nice day.!!!!

No matter what size memory I install, it only recognizes 1/2 of it. What am I dolin wrong? Thanx, Tom the Elder

hello,
try booting up one memory at the time
-memory 1 to memory slot 1 boot computer see if it will work. -memory 1 to memory slot 2 boot computer see if it will work.
-memory 2 to memory slot 1 boot computer see if it will work. -memory 2 to memory slot 2 boot computer see if it will work.
the reason for doing this is to make sure w/c one is defective if it is the memory slot or the memory it self, you can also check the manual to see what the maximum memory the motherboard can have.
cheers

What memory can i upgrade to for my system?

The Gateway GT4022 comes from the factory with two sticks each of 512 MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz dual channel, non-ECC memory, for a total of 1GB (1024 MB). You have 4 slots for memory. Each slot can have up to 1GB for a total of 4GB's. You should install the memory in _pairs_ for best performance. Also, when installing in pairs, you'll need to populate the pairs in slots 1 and 3 (_not_ slots 1 and 2 if using only one pair). Slots tabs on slots 1 and 3 are white. The tabs on tabs 2 and 4 are black.
You can go to memory websites like www.crucial.com to get a free scan of your computer to see all the memory options available for your computer.

Computer is very slow.

McAfee virus software is a memory hog. You need to add more memory to your pc. It uses pc3200 memory. This computer has a memory capacity of 4gigabytes. The memory slots are numbered this way......starting from the memory slot closest to the processor>
one, three, two, four. 1 and 2 work together, 3 and 4 work together. So if you buy just 2 gigabytes......put them in 1 and 2. This will help. Sounds like the virus software is doing a full system scan....you could do a "quick"scan and do a "full" scan once a week....

RAM Recognition 835GM PC Desktop

the memory is dual channel, so you have to use matched memory for it to work 1gig in each slot if possible, check the 1 gigs and 512's to see if they run at the same bus speed, if they are not matched there is your problem try a gig and a 512 in slot 0 to see if it picks the memory up, also there is sometimes an option in the bios to dissable dual mode

Gateway sb-4100-b won't recognize new memory

Check the owners manual of your computer for the correct installation of 2 sticks of memory, this can be critical on computers with 2 banks of 2 slots, it will also tell you the maximum ram that will work. If you do not have the manual, go to the manufactures website and then go to the support link, and browse for memory installation. BPCS
