Question about Garden

I have a floralux 400hps light that siopped working. there is an oily substance that came from where the onboard ballast rides. I'm assuming that the ballast is shot. Is it replacable, where do I puchase parts, is it cost effective. I have the skills to do the work with little guidance. Please advise

Souds like the capacitor has leaked. It should have some numbers on it and can probably be replaced for less than ten dollars -hell with a complete ballast kit or new ballast!
Good luck & be sure to unplug the thing before taking it apart. Mark your wires and be careful not to get zapped in case the capaitor is still retaining some power (you can short the leads to be sure). Dan in Des Moines

Personally, I would try contacting a company such as HTG (High Tech Garden) . They sell Do it yourself ballast kits and they only cost about $60.00. If everything else is good, why not go that route. Good luck and I hope this helps.

FREEZER WAS WORKING FINE 5 years ago before we stopped using it because we didn't use it anymore. But i tried using it again this year, it turns on but will not work/freeze.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.
You have not provided very much information, so I am going to make some assumptions.
First, you stored the unit either outside with a cover or stored it in you garage; both of which have drastic changes of seasonal temperature. This is bad.
Basic refrigerators and freezers are designed to be both store and operate in a controlled atmosphere, such as your home.
Not properly stored and with changes of temperature between night and day and winter and summer, creates condensation on all of the components as well as thermal expansion on the brazed seal system joints.
Well, let's check it out. I assume both the evaporator and condenser motors are running.
Unplug the unit. Remove the back lower cover. Feel around the compressor and tubing for a oily substance. If this is the case, then you have a refrigerate leak. This is a major repair and will cost $650.00 to $750.00.
Ok, no oily substance. Inspect for burned wiring from condensate.
You may also had condensate get to your control board.
It is difficult to say what the problem is because I am making experienced assumptions.
Do not discard this unit. The older units are better built. A service tech such as I to show up at your door is $79.00. I estimate this service call will be about $350.00.
Call me. Let's kick it around. 443-306-1362

Liquid leaked out know fridge isnt working. model dcb412bls

When you say liquid, are you meaning an oily substance or water. Since it isn't working, I have to assume oily substance which could mean either the cap or freon. If it is the capactor that has blown up then it is worth changing (change the contactor at the same time). If it is the compressor leaking freon, then it is usally not cost effective to change out and recharge the system and would take a professional to do.

What is the oily substance leaking from beneath the right hand door of my kenmoore side by side refrigerator and what could be the source of this oily substance?

The compressor uses oil for its lubrication and part of the oil is entrained with the freon in the condenser/evaporator circuit. Could it be a leak in the system? If the system is still working properly, that is very puzzling. You may need to have it checked by a repairman who can help you locate and verify the source of the oil.

Sounds like a head gasket, the oily substance is actually oil. Do not drive the vehicle, at some point a $1000 repair will into $3000 repair when the engine seizes.

the oily substance you talk about is antifreeze, your heater core is damaged and leaking in the form of mist and going to your windshield you must replace your heater core in the dash generally behind the glove box.
