DEH-5800Mp Button lights wont turn off when the ignition is off

I installed the unit in a sail boat, and there is a circuit breaker rather than an ignition switch, when you turn off the breaker, the button-lights stay on. The stereo stops playing , but the lights stay on. Any ideas?

thanks for the answer, the breaker is a toggle switch...and I only have three wires connected...the ground (black), the constant power (yellow), and the switched power (red), hooked to the toggle switch.

Try installing a toggle switch to cut the power and the light may be on because you have the illumination wire hooked up.

Try switching the power wire because it seems that you still have power running to the deck when you turn it off.

Drain water light is blinking unit wont power on

Make sure the unit is on a flat, level surface. If the floor is not level or the carpeting is too thick, the unit will not be level, causing the water in the internal tray to flow to one side. This will bypass the water full safety mechanism and the unit will not automatically shut off.

Check for broken or damaged casters. Check to make sure the casters are installed securely and evenly.

Check and make sure the drain cap and/or the rubber plug is installed. If cap or rubber plug is missing, use a cork. Check and see if the drain is cracked or broken, if so, shave broken drain flat and use a cork. You can use a plumbing adhesive or epoxy to repair the drain.
And regarding that the unit is not powering on i would suggest you with the following things.
Test the outlet that the PAC is plugged into is working. If the outlet is working than the powerplug breaker needs to be replaced. If the wall outlet is not working, there may be too many appliances on one circuit. Recommended circuit is 20amps. You can also administer a power plug check: Power Plug Check
1. Press the RESET button. The reset button may be stubborn so you will need to press HARD to reset it until a click is heard and the light comes on.
2. Insert the power plug into the electrical outlet.
3. Press the TEST button. If the circuit breaker is working you'll hear a click.
4. Press the RESET button until you hear another click. The circuit breaker in the plug is now activated.
5. Do not use the air conditioner if the above procedure cannot be successfully performed.
After switching the air conditioner off, wait 3 minutes before switching it back

I installed a Raymarine compass sensor in a GRP sailing boat underneath the chart table at least 50 cm away from metal and magnets. It is connected to a SP X-5 computer unit and a ST6002 autopilot...

If I were troubleshooting this, I'd manually adjust the orientation of the compass sensor until it matched the true heading. Once that was done, I'd move it side to side to ensure it's changing in the correct directions. If not, the unit could be upside down. Let me know how this turns out.

No heat coming from dryer

Double check the circuit breaker for the dryer (Electric Neptune). Turn it off, then turn it back on. Its possible that the breaker may have tripped for some reason, but wasn't able to trip all the way.

Does the interior of the dryer get warm at all? You could have a 1 of multiple heating elements that has shorted. If no heat at all, the likely a heating element has opened up. Unplug dryer from wall (turn off circuit breaker first!). Use a ohm meter to measure and check continuity of the heating elements.

There may also be a sail switch in the air path of the dryer. The purpose of the sail switch is to keep the elements turned off until there is enough air blowing through the dryer. This helps prevent fires, as well as shrunken denim.

Want to turn off the annoying beeping sound every time i push a button on the unit, remote or adjust the volume

Turn the unit off by pressing and holding the volume button till it powers down (NOT VIA THE IGNITION SWITCH!) Once off, press and hold the fuction button (located in the top left hand corner near the volume dial) until unit lights up again and a menu appears, near the end of that menu you can change the beep noises to off like volume or when ignition is off but unfortunatly you cannot change the beep for changing track.

What to connect ignition and illumination to in a boat install

Hello tblau7716,

The ignition wire (usually red) should be connected to a switched 12V source. If your boat does not have an ignition switch, simply wire it to the 12V source through a toggle switch. Just turn the toggle on when you want to use the audio system. As for the illumination wire, cap it off to keep it from shorting out on anything else. It's normally connected into the dash light dimmer circuit so the system display will dim when you turn the lights on. It's not needed for any other purpose and it won't hurt anything to keep it disconnected.

Hope this helps.

Circuit Installation

The process contain a certain degree of risk, but if you follow all safety steps, you should be just fine. Most standard electric panels have a main disconnect switch or breaker at the top of the panel or load center. It is a code requirement. If the load center doesn't have one, then look for the main disconnect at a different location possibly near the electric meter. Turn it off. You better have a flashlight handy or a caving or miner's helmet, because you are going to need a light source. Circuit breakers plug into the load center. The electricity flows into each breaker via a large metal strip inside the panel or load center. It is called a bus bar. This strip is HIGHLY dangerous. Touch this strip while it is energized and you will very likely die. If a screwdriver you are holding slips and touches it, expect nearly the same result. Keep in mind that even though the main breaker may be off, the bus bar may be energized for any number of reasons! Also, the wires leading into the top of the main disconnect are always energized and represent a life safety hazard. In other words, the inside of an electric panel or load center is ALWAYS a dangerous place to be. The black wire to a circuit attaches to one end of a standard or AFCI breaker. The location is almost always a hole that is drilled through a threaded cylinder. A screw twists into this cylinder and tightly clamps down the wire. When installing a new breaker, I always find it easier to attach the circuit wire to the breaker before I plug the breaker into the panel. When removing a breaker, I usually unplug the breaker from the bus bar and then remove the circuit wire from the end of the breaker. Make sure the breaker is in the off position. The end of the breaker where the circuit wire attaches almost always has a small notch in it. This notch fits under or slides into a metal tab strip that runs parallel with the bus bar. This is what stabilizes the breaker. Without this secondary attachment, the breakers would flap in the panel much like a sail that is not tied down to the mast or the side of a boat. Tip the end of the breaker so the notch slides into the metal tab. You then align the breaker with the bus bar and push it down onto the bar. The tension tabs on the breaker open slightly and grip the bus bar as the breaker seats itself. If you feel the breaker seated itself correctly, simply turn it on. All should be well. Remember to follow the instructions that come with the breaker. Always follow the sequence the manufacturer suggests. AFCI breakers require one additional step. You need to locate the white wire that is paired with the black wire in that circuit. The white wire actually attaches to the breaker as well. There is a coiled white wire that leads out of the breaker. This white wire attaches to the neutral bus bar in spot that is vacated when you disconnect the white wire of the circuit. If this answer scared you, call an electrician!

How can I connect my sony mp3 player to pioneer deh-5800mp in dash stereo

Hello nmfsc,

I am not specifically familiar with the DEH-5800MP but many car stereos these days have an input jack on the faceplate (or under it) which is used to connect the stereo to a MP3 player using a special cable which is available from the manufacturer.

If your stereo doesn't have an input jack, there are other options. One popular method is to connect a wireless transmitter like this one to your MP3 player set to an empty FM radio frequency which you can receive using your car stereo

Best Regards,
Ken
