How do you get to the top bolt of the starter?

With a lot of socket extensions fed from front of vehicle. You have to mix Short, Medium and Long to get the Ratchet into a small space where you can swing it. That is just the start (excuse the pun) of the problem. the starter then has to be fed forward through the spaces forward, disconnecting cables and twisting to get it out. I replaced the brushes and it bench tested fine, but when back, would not crank engine. I had it out 4 more times, checking bushings, solinoid, reduction gear, connections, and even replaced the main cable. No Go. Turned out that when I eventually re-re-checked the Brushes connections (Couldn't be them, They Brand new), I put the meter across the brushes themselves, not just to the back where the lead enters them and found them to have a 1 ohm resistance. Faulty. Ironically they were the "Much Better Quality" at twice the price of the ones I re-replaced them with. Have Fun

I want to remove/replace a 2000 GE JVM1640WB microwave and don't know how to access the mounting/securing screws to allow me to remove the old unit. Are they behind the top grill, which looks like it's...

I have found and provided a link installation instructions for your existing model. The front is held in place by two screws through the cabinet above into the top of the micro and the back is supported by a wall bracket. A new microhood will fit into the space, but will install a little differently. link to instructions:

Loud grinding noise when paper is feeding through machine

Mine was indeed a gear problem. Took off the top cover and poked around. Found two areas that may have caused the grinding.
1. The lower roller shaft had slid to the left out of it's groove. By removing the handset cradle (3 release tabs are accessed underneath the toner hatch.) I could loosen the "gear box" (a black contraption with all the gears inside) and then snug the bottom roller into proper position.
2. I removed the "gear box" to look around. Don't know if I dislodged one of the gears while doing so, but noticed one was dislodged ;-)
This required opening up the gear box by removing 2 screws and lifting off the motor. Then i could get at a gear that had come loose from a claw sort of piece. Note: the teeth of the loose gear needed to be on the motor side when sliding it back into the claw thingy. It seems to use a metal clip for friction control and perhaps proper spacing.

I noticed "some" wearing of gears, but doubt this is an issue. This machine has been used VERY hard for years and now, just by re-aligning things, it works once again.

My googling barely found any mention of troubleshooting this machine, so I shudder to think what finding parts would be like.

Tv help!

When you have the back off, look for the flyback (high voltage) transformer. This is the part that has the thick red wire protruding from its top which attaches to the top of the picture tube with a suction cup. On the flyback there are 2 controls, the bottom one is screen and the top one is focus. Turn the bottom control (screen) down (counterclockwise) until the white lines go away and the brightness looks normal. Then turn the top control (focus) until the picture is nice and sharp. If the F connector has been pulled out and the TV has RCA (red, white, yellow) jacks, use those jacks and set the TV to INPUT.
