Question about Alesis Sr 16 Stereo Drum Machine
It sounds like the adapter jack in the Alesis has a bad solder joint to the circuit board .This is a fairly common problem with all modules that have external power supplies and is an easy fix if you feel confident and are good at soldering.

I agree, that is also a very hard power supply to match if you try to replace it. It is a 9v AC instead of the standard DC. I don't actually know why since the unit rectifies it on the inside. Usually this is a common thing for laptops, caused by bumping the plug while plugged in cracks the socket. I would check for cracks or breakage before attempting to resolder.
