Re: shut down

There are 2 power buttons on this player. One on the actual device and one on remote. If you have one on, the other will not shut it off.

My alpine works fine when its on the tuner but when I put it on cd there is no sound. I don't know what's going on I checked the wiring.

Are you running your audio through an amplifier? If you are, it sounds like you are using the blue wire (power antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white (amplifier remote turn on). The blue wire shuts off when you leave tuner mode, thus turning your amp off.

Protect message comes on and my radio doesnt work.what should i do?

Hi there,

Firstly, are you able to remove the head unit from your dash?

Usually, when PROTECT appears, the unit has detected a short circuit (or overload) somewhere, and has shut down to prevent damage.

Problems in the wiring (e.g. loom or speaker wire) can often cause this condition.

I recommend you have someone remove the head and:

- check the fuse in the back of the head unit.
- disconnect one speaker wire, then turn unit on to see if Protect message comes up.
- do this with all speaker wires, until the unit operates without going into Protect mode.

If the above does not solve the problem, then you may need to decide whether repair is viable, or to replace.

When i have the stereo on radio my amp/subs work fine, but as soon as i switch the mode to USB ( built in ipod connector) it cuts out the power to the amp/subs. It only works on tuner mode (radio) why?

use the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) instead of the blue wire (power antenna remote turn on) to turn your amp on. the power antenna wire shuts off when leaving tuner mode.

No memory

check to make sure you don't have the batt+ wire and switched 12v wire mixed up. batt+ is usually yellow or orange while the switched 12v wire is usually red, consult the manual or look on the unit itself. there should be a wire color description there. batt+ is what you want 12v running to all the time to keep the settings. switched 12v is the one that turns the unit on when the key is turned on. the unit will still operate if the 2 are backwards but like you said it will clear the memory every time you shut it off because your cutting power to the batt+ wire thus resetting the unit.

No power, everything wired correctly

When I hook up an amp I put the power wire to the battery, the ground to a suitable chasis ground, and the remote wire I hook up to a switched 12 volt in the fuse block. It's usually marked ign on the fuse block. If you have a test light you can see which one is hot when you turn the key on.As far as the radio not coming on there should be a fuse in line on the red wire and dont forget the one under dash also. Some radios have a reset button on them somewhere you might see if yours does.

tblackwood ...if you have connected your remote turn on for your amp to the remote turn on on the deck(this is also the power aerial connection) ..on some decks this has power only when the radio is operating. as soon as you insert cd it shuts down the power to this supply(i dont know why some did was a bad move ) may have to find another power supply to turn the amp on (accessories supply on the ignition..)

No sound.

Disconnect speakers one by one and reset the unit each time. If the speaker is blown, or the wires are frayed, it will shut down the internal amp. Also check the fuse in the back of the radio first, it should be near the wire harness. Power cycle the unit as well, unplug it from the power source, plug it back in. Hope this helps.

Sub cuts out when I switch to CD player?

It shuts off because the remote turn-on wire to the amplifier is connected to the power antenna wire behind your head unit. The power antenna wire is only activated when the tuner is selected. You need to switch the remote wire to the blue/white wire from the head unit (currently you're using the blue wire). This is the true remote output, and will activate the amp whenever the head unit is powered on.
