SOURCE: I bought AE1000 wireless N

When you insert the setup disk on your computer, you can exit from the setup and then connect the adapter to the computer and a new window will popup "Found New Hardware Wizzard" and in that select the option "Install the drivers Automatically" and click on next, so it will automatically search for the drivers and install it on your computer... Once the drivers are installed on your computer then you can try to connect to your wireless network.

Setup

The Linksys AE1000 Wireless USB Adapter helps you connect your computer to a wireless network for quick Internet access. Installing the Linksys AE1000 is fairly easy. Just follow the steps below in setting up the Linksys AE1000 on your computer or laptop.

If you do not see this, click Start on your computer and click Computer. Double-click on your CD-ROM drive. Continue to Step 3.

NOTE: For Windows XP, the file may be known as Setup.exe.

Step 3:
Read the License Agreement and click Next.

Try this site to get the drivers for the SMCWUSB-G: http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=downloads.doSearchCriteria&localeCode=EN_USA&productCategory=5&modelNumber=1545&partNumber=0&downloadType=1&knowsPartNumber=false . You will need the part number of your adapter. Then choose your OS and click the blue button with the right arrow.

The manual and firmware are also available. See http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?event=viewProduct&cid=5&scid=31&localeCode=EN_USA&pid=1545 . The links for support and documentation are on the right hand side of the page.

I hope this helps.
