Connect computer to home theater system

I'd be happy to connect my laptop (MacBook Pro) to the NXX home theater system to have the computer's sound through the speakers. Is that possible?, and if so, what cable would I need?
Thank you in advance,
Monica

thank you for the help, I solved the problem yesterday, but I can only hear  2 of the 5 speakers of the home theater system. I guess it is the only solution.

You will need a cable that haves a headphone jack to RCA cables and you will plug the headphone in to the computer and the RCA in to your home theater system

Connect optimus lab 1100 to macbook

The type of computer is not relevant. This turntable provides output at nominal "line level" and can be connected to your MacBook with a properly shielded audio cable through the audio input.

For best results, you might want to disable automatic-gain-control (AGC) in the "Sound" preferences pane in the "System Preferences" panel, and set the level manually such that the input does not overload.

As I mentioned above, the signal level is nominally "line level", and that can mean very different things depending on context. You might find that using a passive volume control (potentiometer) between the turntable and the computer's analog-to-digital converter can greatly improve the quality of sound.

I have a composite AV cable, but i can't connect it between my bose lifestyle 48 and my Macbook air, i mean sound from itunes doesn't works

Just take an audio cable with on one side a 3.5 mm (headphone) plug and on the other side 2 normal audio phono plugs.

Plug the 3.5 mm side in the headphone output of your MacBook and put the other side in one of the inputs of the Bose system.

Your best bet is to get a "midi to usb" cable. is use the M Audio Uno and have had no problems, then it will record as midi, so you can edit the hits later if needed.

I want to connect my laptop with HDX277WC sony home theater. I want to get the 5.1 sound. I can get stereo sound; but 5.1 is not there. My laptop has 5.1 sound

Your laptop only has an stereo output so it is not possible. I don't know if there is any gadget that you can connect to the usb, and get a surround output from a computer. You may wana check that out, and if there exist such a device it surely would have a software to go along with it.

I just want to know if I can connect my laptop to my Samsung HT-Q70 Home Theater System for audio so I can hear the sound from the laptop on my Home Theater speakers?

Yes you can and it is very simple. All you need is a special wire. One end fits to the earphone jack on the laptop, and the other end looks like rca cable. At the back of your home theater choose aux in, and connect the rca end of the cable to that. Then the other end looks like a headphone jack, and you connect that to the laptop headphone jack. Now on you home theater select aux. You will everything that comeout of that laptop including the windows vista melody when you first boot it up. Now you are ready to enjoy music.

No sound from speakers.

Go to system preferences then sound then click output. See what the output volume is and also check that the output volume is not muted. Hope this helps.
